Backsaver
"The Backsaver Straps from Innova have been re-designed by Hero (the manufacturer of the Innova's Competition Bag) to better distribute the weight of a fully loaded golf bag to put less stress on your back and shoulders. They are adjustable 4 ways to fit most body types and have a removable, fully adjustable chest strap. Constructed of 600D nylon with thick padded shoulders for comfort and durability. Available in black only."
i have heard complaints about the straps innova had previously so i guess this is why they said Re-designed straps.
anyone have anything positive or negative to say about these? they are cheaper than any other straps out there so im wondering if they are cheaply made or something

I would love to hear a complete compare and contrast with Phenix.

It's great that they redesigned them, but the biggest problem I had with Innova's straps were them ripping and tearing on me.

Ill just throw this out there.
I got a used pair of military harness suspenders (Y or H style) and used them on my bag. You can get a pair really cheap and they are made to hold up and not rip.
So if you dont mind not having the "Innova" straps to match all of your Innova gear - this a cheap alternative.

Originally I bought a Revolution bag & it held up pretty good. But my back was acting up after only a couple rounds so I started looking at quad straps. Since I had already spent $85.00 on the bag & was looking at another $45.00+ for straps I went the backpack route. I got a cheap backpack at Walmart for $15.00 & the straps were just like what is sold for disc golf. It's got water bottle holders, mp3 player pocket, etc. I have since upgraded to an Ogio bag for more carrying capacity & a little more style. $20.00 on eBay. There are definitely some pluses & minuses with a backpack as opposed to a dedicated disc golf bag but overall I am very satisfied & I rarely have any back problems now.http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/jdubent08/Disc%20Golf%20Am%20Skins/08bagtag042.jpg

Right on. I got my first bag from mil. surplus for $10. Added cardboard in a seam for rigidity and I was discin'. Only dislike was lack of cup holders, so, moved on to the large pdga bag and wouldn't trade it for anything. Rugged as ****! Bill Johnston, Mississinewa designer, has had the same bag for nine years and it shows no wear. Oh, this thread is about straps...well, if you play as much as I do, why would you get anything other than Phenix?

I just got a new Phenix bag with the Phenix Sternum straps. Even if you never hook up the Sternum straps they sure make it easier to take the straps off. I just grap the straps and pull my shoulders out of the straps. I am 50 and my back hasn't been as sore as it was with just a shoulder strap.

If you don't even bother with the added sternum strap, why didn't you just get the regular Quads? I've been rocking the Quads for about 5 months now and I love 'em to death!

I believe he meant it was easier to take the bag off by just pulling on one of the chest straps.

Revolution Backpack bag (dual pack). By far the best bag I've ever owned. And by far the most comfy for back and shoulders. (way better than quad straps)

honestly...I think quad straps are rather gay looking and overkill.
Come on. It's disc golf. All the equipment out there looks rather "douche-ie". It reminds me of when snowboarding started out in the late 8o's and everything tried to be sporty looking. It was a parody. I know, I was part of snowboarding's infancy in many ways. Right now, disc golfing feels at that exact same level of evolution.
Where are the companies with attitude and in touch with the true feel of the sport? Something with an edge, in tune with the feel of nature? NOT making quad straps to carry 20 discs? And don't get me started on the fools carrying chairs around the course with them. El-lamo.
Just saying.

I like the ability to carry 2 liters of water. I also enjoy choosing different discs depending on the wind and the layout of the holes. It is what I make of the sport! On the 9 hole course I played today, I just carried the Revolution Mini. Yesterday, in the HUGE wind, I was glad I had my big Phenix, and the sternum straps to make it easy to take off.

That's what I'm doing as well. when I saw the "latest and greatest" disc golf straps for 40 bucks I was shocked. They are just a repacked rip off of the US Army LBE straps except not as sturdy.

I have heard from others that have/had this bag that the only draw back is that is makes your back a little sweaty. Do you find this to be true also?

So which of these do you guys prefer...Y or H style? And do either of these have chest straps too? I am going to go google them as interest.

I have both Y and H, but I personally have found the Y to work better with my bag (Innova Deluxe Bag). I dont know of any that have a chest strap, but with a little creativity it wouldnt be too hard to rig up a chest strap.
Here is a website that sells the Y straps pretty reasosnable (this is just fyi ... I havent ordered from here) http://www.bandgpaintball.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=27
As you can see the price difference is pretty substantial ... 3.49 as opposed to 39.99.

Are those the exact same Y straps that you have? How much are they after tax + shipping?

You can also look up an Army surplus store in your area. They will have some you can put your hands on and check out.
