A group of 6 of us were playing doubles at the local university campus course. As usual, there is always lots of foot traffic and you have to wait for that hole to fire away. On one hole, it seemed clear and one of the guys threw a forearm and it faded a bit more than normal. It was about 250 or 275feet. It looked like it was going to land on the sidewalk and skip and then all of the sudden an older woman (maybe a professor) appears to be walking from behind the fountain. I saw her and thought it was heading in her direction so I let out a, "Head's up!" Nobody else in the group saw her coming. It skipped off of the sidewalk and nailed her in the hand. The guy that threw it apologized and she just shook it off and continued walking.

On the very next hole, we were throwing into the wind. It was probably a 250 foot hole or so. I had to throw an anheiser around a tree and the wind did not let it come back. The disc was flying behind the large maple tree and I couldn't see it through the leaves. I looked under the tree to watch for the disc to land. All of the sudden, I see a professor walking along the sidewalk but no disc. I let out a, "Head's up!" I didn't think it was going to be close to him because I thought it was going to flip back but the next thing I know is I see my disc nail him in the upper thigh. He threw his hands up in the air as to say, "Hey now, c'mon!" Fortunately I knew him and ran up to him to apologize. I felt awful but he said he was fine.

2 people in one round.....anybody else here hit anyone before? Luckily for us today, both hits were below the waist.

No, never hit anyone, but that sounds like a busy area.
I did, however, witness my buddy nail one of those little rat dogs that someone happened to be walking from about 270' out. The thing jumped about 3' in the air and yelped like none other. After realizing the dog was OK, it was actually pretty humorous.

Ha, that's funny...those little rat dogs are so ugly. I noticed you're from fort wayne...There are a lot of cyclists in west swinney park it seems. I wonder if anyone has ever hit one of them.

Oh yeah. Hit a guy in the back once at Tyler State Park on one of the few holes that runs next to another. And.. have hit golfers twice at Sedgley woods on the front nine which all run close to each other. A errant drive can easily find itself on another fairway. Fortunately no one was hurt. oh, and I also made par on the holes :)

My buddy happened to be standing maybe 5 foot in front of me but off to the right a bit. I was making a throw uphill and curving right, I threw it and let go too late and it basically left my hand at full force and nailed him in between the shoulder blades cause he was looking uphill away from me. It was freaking rediculous

Another time I was practicing drives at a baseball field and happened to let one rip only to see my wife in the way and nailed her on the side of her ribs with a champion valkyrie from about 20' away

I can picture both of these cases in my head. Your friend just looking up the hill at the basket and then all of the sudden you nail him in the back. Knowing the fact that he was ok would really make this hilarious. I would laugh about it after the fact..."hey, remember that time when I nailed you in the back with a disc from 5 feet away?"

We were practice putting the other day and one of my buddies walked to the basket to retrieve his disc. Another guy from about 20 feet out just took his wraith and tossed it underhand edge upwards towards the basket as to try to spike it into the basket. Needless to say, it came down right on my friends head that was retreiving his disc and it made a loud knock noise. Just from coming down 5 feet vertical on his head, it really left a huge knot and hurt him a lot.

I can't imagine how much damage a disc would do if it hit someone in the head off of a drive.

Yeah, there are a few places it might be a problem, but the sidewalk only comes into play on a couple holes. #2 is the worst with that blind corner off the tee, but I've never heard of anyone being struck. Did you hear that we now have another full 18 on East Swinney, now. Just added another six holes this summer. The boys incorporated a lot of good ob and an island hole to boot. Been good discin'. What school were you playing at when someone got hit? I played a little course up in Traverse that was right in the middle of campus like that. Only a six hole course, ridiculous.

I've played a few times at both east and west swinney in the last few weeks. I played in the fort fall 42 tournament (my first tournament). I was playing at Huntington University when we hit two people. I just added Memorial HIlls DGC to the website yesterday, it is a new course in Huntington. I don't think I am going to add Huntington University DGC because it would be difficult for anyone to know the course that is not already familiar with it. It is more of a recreational course for students and locals.

Back in the day I was playing on the old object course at the Univ. of Southern MS with an old 175G frisbee. A squirrel ran across the path about 40 ft in front of me and without thinking I threw my disc at it. Nailed it! The squirrel rolled over, shook himself and ran off. One in a thousand shot to hit a running target that way. I haven't ever actually hit another person. I have had a disc land on a picnic blanket in the middle of some people and have thrown one and had the wind take over a fence into a backyard but no actual hits.

Are you gonna play KGB's b-day tourney? I'm not, but sounds like fun. Is the Huntington course on a ball course? Never mind I'll look it up right now. How'd you do in the 42? That was my first tourney, too, back in 06' I entered am 3 and ended up beating the am 2 winner's score. Wasn't able to play this year because of problems with "The Man" (no, not my gay lover).

I mentioned this in my review of Prospect Park, Brooklyn, but Yes, I have hit someone. The park was crazy crowded and I was sure my drive wouldn't reach this couple walking hand in hand. Well, I was part right. It didn't reach them but hit the concrete and bounced up ward hitting her on the back of the leg. Luckily (Hey it was Brooklyn) They waved me off with nothing more than a dirty look and a stare down.

Hitting a squirrel on the run is pretty impressive. I wouldn't feel bad about hitting an animal, most of them are pretty tough critters. I might feel bad about hitting someone's dog though...but squirrels and geese are all game.

I would much rather hit someone on the skip rather than in mid flight, actually i would rather not hit anyone at all.

Maybe do a search for "courses near me." hopefully it will pop up then.

I watched my buddy get hit in the temple from a drive once. He dropped to one knee, and I think it was safe to say that he had a concussion too.

I hit a squirrel with my driver once, kindda sad cause I was'nt even trying to throw it that way. Anyway, hit him and he jumped about a two feet straight up and then ran up the nearest tree. My friend and I had a good laugh.
Hopefully one day I'll hit something better...like the chain basket!:)

There is a private course in WA. where if you hit their pet llama in a tournament, it is an automatic stroke penalty. If it on purpose, you kicked out of the tournament. You would have to be sick though to hit it on purpose. The llama rules.

i hit an old lady once by accident. it was a throw over a creek with lots of foliage on both sides of the fairway. i teed off and it looked like it was going to be a good throw, but then it started cutting hard left. Just as it started to cut an old lady started walking out from behind a group of bushes on the left. i yelled "four" but she had no idea what was going on. As i watched in fear it hit the top of her left shoulder and glanced off and landed a few feet behind her. i had no idea she was there before i threw as she did not come into view until i had already released. she was very cool about it though and it didnt hurt her. im just thankful it didnt hit her in the face as that wouldve been even worse.

that's kinda the way both people were hit when I was playing yesterday. It was clear when we tee-d off and then they walked into the frame.

I've never hit anyone on a course before. However, playing a round on the practice course that I have set up at my house I had an errant throw nail my car dead center on the hood.... left a nice little swirl on the paint. I won't try to wash it either. It's too good a reminder of what a bad shot can do.

Ok I've been witness to four disc hits... 3 times on the wrong side of the transaction.

When I first started playing with a few buddies we went to a softball field to throw around. An errant sidearm while walking and my friend hit another (standing about 10 feet in front of him no less) in the back of his head. Ouch.

The first time I was hit was about a month ago. A friend of mine putted (30 ft) just past the basket and I said I would pick it up. I did and as I turned around to walk to the next hole I was greeted in a special area with another missed putt. Needless to say I was laying on the groud for the next 5 minutes. PUTTS ARE DANGEROUS TOO :)

Second time was a few weeks ago during my USDGC trip during a night round with about 5 other people. It was a chaotic round and I was near the basket when I got hit in the jaw with a short approach. Not sure exactly how this happened as my memory is a bit, uh, spotty from that night but I think it was intentional (due to all the laughing). I guess that's what sisters are for. This one didn't really hurt, just stunned me a bit.

I was also hit during the same trip (two days later) during spectator day at USDGC. My sister had given up playing the hole as she couldn't get over the buncr and I was standing about 75 feet in front of her. For some reason (bored?) she decided to throw a shot. I'm pretty sure she didn't think she was gonna go anywhere near me. She gave me a "fore" but by then it was too late. The disc was coming at my head again and I was "fortunate" enough to block it with my left wrist, right on the bone. I couldn't really bend or use my fingers for the next 20 minutes. I think the nerve just got nailed or something. It hurt a LOT like my wrist was broken or something for the first 60 seconds and its actually still a bit sore if you press on that area (3 weeks later). Just glad it wasn't my right hand :D

Since then I have been a lot more careful where I stand, especially when little sis is around...

At least you were hit by a disc and not a baseball, this may be the unluckiest spectator ever:

"On August 17th, 1957 Richie Ashburn of the Phillies proved that lightning could strike twice after hitting spectator Alice Roth twice in the same at bat. The first foul struck the wife of Earl Roth, sports editor at the Philadelphia Bulletin in the face and the second hit her body while she was being removed from her seat on a stretcher. Mrs. Roth went on to the hospital to be treated for a broken nose and Philadelphia went on beat the New York Giants 3-1."

I once nailed my own car in the parking lot at the course. I hit it with a driver and it left a nice crease. I was pissed, but I was also relieved that it was my car and not someone else's.

I once hit the side of a big pickup truck pretty hard as it was driving down a busy street. It didn't (and couldn't) stop to see what had happened, so I probably dodged a bullet on that one. I wonder how loud that sound must have been for the guy driving...

The only other one I recall is when my buddy threw a super-long downhill drive that soared past the edge of the course, skipped off someone's front-yard walkway and tagged the front door of their house. Knock knock!

I have seen people hit, and I have been hit...in the eye! Not fun and very expensive. The problem I see is a lot of disc golfers get mad at the walkers and say "screw them..I'm throwing" As if most people understand that they are on a disc golf course, and that they are in danger of being hit from 300' away. Pedestrians happen, and it sucks to wait, but with today's discs YOU CAN NOT AFFORD TO HIT SOMEONE. Good way to lose your course.

I have come close to hitting a few people but havn't. I can't say the same about myself though. A few years ago I was standing off to the side talking to a buddy who was getting ready to drive when I hear someone yell "watch out!". I look up and the next thing I remember is my buddy asking if I was ok while he was laughing. It gave me a little cut and bruised up nice. It was interesting explaining to people that I didn't get in a fight and a flying disc had done this. They didn't understand how a frisbee could do that and kept asking what do you mean it wasn't a standard frisbee. The good thing is I got to introduce some people to my disc and tell them a little about the sport.

I've never hit anyone but have seen people hit, Shillito Park in Lexington is VERY especially during the summer (groups of 6 or more at times) and you have to be careful.

1 - Worst I've ever seen was a couple years ago. We were finishing #18 and the basket is very close to the #3 Tee. The #3 fairway runs parallel to #2 with a large tree dividing the two. As we were walking to the basket on #18 a guy teed off on #3 and sliced a drive hard left around the tree into the #2 fairway. He screamed "FORE!!!" and a guy in the group coming down #2 pops around the tree and screams "What?" a second prior to the disc smashing into his face. He was cut across the nose and was bleeding all over the place. They grabbed a towel and he was covering his face while his friend took him to the hospital. We stayed and played another round and as we finished they got back from the hospital to pick up his car. He has stitched across the nose and his eye was black and swelled up crazy. I'd been playing about a year when this happened but I learned a valuable lesson. If someone screams don't look to see whats up - You might not want to know.

2 - My son was 7 when this happened - We were on #7 at Shillito and a lady was in the fairway and we were waiting to tee off. You was about 75' off the tee and kept telling me to "let the kid throw - She'd watch it". I finally told my son to go ahead and just as he threw she turned her back to walk away. He may have been small but could throw a forehand over 150' and his drive struck her in the back of the neck. She stagger forward bent over and we went to check on her. Her neck was sore and her eyes were watering and as soon as possible she decided to get totally out of the way.

I've seen others get hit and hit people but nothing serious, these two stand out the most.

I've never hit anyone but have hit 2 moving cars in the same park and saw another local stick his drive in the grill of a truck driving through the park (All on #3). The guy didn't stop. The road through the park is real close on the right of the fairway on #3 and follows from tee to basket. We had a hot air balloon land in a fairway one day, an Asian family use basket #6 as a grill (boy that was an experience), people picnicing in fairways, a couple local college "artists" setting up their paints and stuff on the #6 Teepad just prior to weekly league starting and couldn't understand what we insisted they pick a different place - VERY busy park.

I was playing with a guy that got hit in the family jewels by a thumber from the previous tee.

Just last week I was playing with my 5 yr old son and he said that he could get the disc into the basket before I could. So he started to run towards the basket and just playing around I threw a huge hyzer and came around and hit him in the legs on the run about 200' down from me. Knocked him square on his back. I felt awful until I could hear him laughing. He said "its cheating if you knock me over with the frisbee" (he calls the disc frisbees).

One of the scariest/funniest things I have seen, I was Disc Golfing at Cass Benton in Northville MI and my buddy and I were walking up to the 5th tee pad and there was a group of three people in front of us. The girl that was in the group and threw a disc really bad could not have been 50feet and her friend that was with her starts to throw his disc. As soon as he lets his disc go the girl comes out of the woods and looks back and gets smacked right in the bridge of the nose. She immediately fell to the ground and it looked like she was convulsing, the third person in the group turns to my buddy and says "you two can play through I think we are done for the day" I have never seen anything remotely like that and all I know is that girl had to be in pain...Me and my friend got the hell out of their and continued the round

My wife and I were playing one day and there were three guys right around the corner on a dogleg right hole. They were dragging a large cooler with wheels on one end and a handle on the other and from the way they were acting the cooler must have been almost empty. The reason they had stopped around the corner on a dogleg is because they had a disc stuck in a tree. The largest of the three middle aged, shirtless, past buzzed disc golfers was trying to climb the tree as the other two threw rocks around him.

When they noticed us one of them said "Yall go ahead" then he turned back and started vaulting large rocks back up near his buddy. My wife looked at me confused because they were just to the right of a line between her disc and the hole and I said "They said go ahead". I knew that sometimes she pulls a disc right and I should'nt have done it but could'nt resist and during her backswing I whispered "don't kill anyone".

Her disc went low and right and hit the guy right in the achiles tendon. He screamed like he had been shot and when he did the guy climbing the tree lost his footing and to prevent scraping his nipples off on the tree trunk he jumped backwards out of the tree and landed right in the middle of a patch of prickly pear cactus.

Luckily they had enough alchohol in their systems to numb the pain because they laughed the whole thing off. My wife felt terrible and I felt worse because it was really my fault. I used a disc to get their disc out of the tree while they all three sat and watched and tried to convince me why you should never use a disc to get another disc unstuck from a tree.

At the Pueblo City Park Course hole #1 plays right along a busy one way street where the traffic drives towards the tee box. I was playing with a large group and one of the guys threw a huge drive that was heading towards the street. We though it was fine because no one was there, but at the last second a road biker came flying around the corner. The drive him straight in the nose as he was riding into the drive. He fell off his bike hard and fractured a bone in his arm, also I think the disc broke his nose. My buddy gave him a ride to the hospital and felt horrible for hitting the guy. That's the worst one I've ever seen or heard.

Another one of my friends who didn't play to often was walking the course while a few people played. He got a little to far ahead and someone accidentally threw a disc at him. Instead of yelling, "fore" he yelled the guys name. My friend turned around with a big smile on his face and caught the disc right in the teeth. It knocked out one of his front teeth, and he never went to the disc golf course again.

Happily we play with a dog that runs out and marks the disc for us. :)

Sadly, my Stratus has hit her a few times. :(

Although, once she looked up near the basket and hit my disc with her nose and tipped it in for me! :D

Hitting someone can be an emotional roller coaster, but it always seems a bit funny later on. ;)

Good thing that I haven't been hit or hit anyone yet so far...*knock on wood*

But I did witnessed a quite funny hit during the Deaf tournament few years back at Chili course.

We were standing at #15 and there's a group ahead at #16 right next to #15 fairway, anyway, one of the guy in our group threw a bad one and it was heading to the group ahead. We yelled and waved our hands but it was no use at all since they were all deaf. We just put our arms down and just watch it aiming at them...

"Here it go...3, 2, 1, its a HIT!!" (giving each other high fives)

It hit squarely on the guy's left upper arm and left a perfect black and blue line mark across his arm. He's ok. He said it was painful but good thing that it was not his throwing arm...whew!

I skipped a disc into a guys leg once...one of those crazy errant drives...I yelled FORE and it was all good...

I've been hit about 8 times...most of the times they yelled FORE, but I just couldn't get out of the way in time

I only was "hurt" once...got nailed in the ankle really bad and the guy never even yelled or anything...

I got hit in the cheek by a second shot with a driver. I was way off to the right and walking ahead to my drive. Guy grip locked one and it glanced off of my face about an inch below my eye. Didn't really hurt too bad, I guess it just barely knicked me. Could have been bad if I had caught it in the eye. I'm glad the guy didn't have time to yell fore because I probably would have caught it on the nose.

I've had a few close ones, but never hit anyone or been hit. I can't image if I hit someone off my sidearm drive in close range. I think I could take someones head off. Getting hit after the fade should hurt to much.

I was playing football and we were getting ready to kick off after a score and my friend punts the ball back to us and yells "heads up!", so I look up and nails me in the face! That hurt like hell, stung so bad, but luckily didn't break anything. I wish he didn't yell "head ups", should have said "duck!"

I had a near miss today that turned out to be really cool. Some pros had brought their practice basket ( an Innova Travler) to the course. The course goes around some soccer fields and they were driving on the practice field. A guy standing on the #18 tee about 250ft away, decided to throw a disc to us. I heard someone yell, "Look out!" and I turned to see a disc coming at me as I was getting my putter out of the practice basket. I ran away fast, just as that disc landed right in the basket.

I almost got hit, but it was a bad ass shot to see. My reaction was ---->

The funny part was they guy had never seen a Innova Travler basket, and thought his disc had landed in a Bar-B-Q pit.

i peged a kid that was a son of one of the people in my group while down at green way... hole #9 he was standing right by the basket i gave him a warning that i was about to throw and he ran around the basket right into the path of my putters flight and it hit him right in the arm... i felt bad because i made him cry his mom said not to worry about it as he's always getting hit by discs and should have learned his lesson.

I hit my friend in the neck once while putting. He had bent down to pick up his disc & my putt hit him in the side of the neck. It was a putter so no blood. Now we joke "watch your neck" whenever we go up to the basket to pick up our disc.

The only person I ever hit was also at Sedgley...

I'd only been playing a couple months and I was at my second tournament. It was early morning and people were warming up out in a field. My girlfriend was out collecting discs when one that I threw tagged her in the calf. It was at the end of the flight and didn't have much juice left, but still left a decent bruise. Those sharp edges on drivers concentrate all the force upon impact into a small area. I've been significantly more careful since then and haven't hit anyone else.

When I first started playing I couldn't throw very far, maybe 175', tops. We were on a 244' hole. I wasn't up, but everyone said, "go ahead," knowing that I'd never get there. The group ahead of us was putting out. Wouldn't you know I'd throw the best drive of my life that day and hit a guy who was standing 10' from the basket. On the fly, no skip, right into the back of his calf. No one yelled fore or anything. We were dumbfounded that I actually threw it that far. I felt bad and soo happy at the same time. We never caught up to apologize. They probably wanted to get the hell away from us. So, if you got hit in the back of the leg on #11 at Iroquois in Aug/Sept '08. I'm sorry. It was a glorious accident.

I watched a buddy of mine tee off right into the temple of another buddy of mine standing 10 feet to his right. It was at Hellyer in San Jose, CA. on hole 8. Luckily he has a huge head so he dropped to one knee and moaned rather than pass out and dye like I would have. The drive probably would have a country mile, at the speed of a rocket. It was incredible....

I had two sharks the other day and I was throwing them at my 5 year old son from about 100' away. I was pretending like I was really trying to hit him and he really thought I was and was having a blast getting out of the way of them.

When we were done I did'nt see him get the boss out of my bag. He decided it would be fun to try to hit daddy with a frisbee. He has a wicked sidearm and he hauled off and let one fly from about 10 feet away from me. He hit his mom right in the temple and she dropped like a bag of potatoes.

When she got up her red head temper kicked in and my son and I both learned that you never, ever, ever, ever, ever throw a golf disc at someone intentionally. EVER! :)

I was in the park one day practicing my driving in the open field. The park has a running track that loops around the field. I threw a beat up DX Leopard that got caught in the wind. It made a hard right and before I could say anything it clipped a guy on the back of the shoulder who was running around the track. What made things worse was that the guy was about three times my size. As I would do for anyone I hit, I began to shout apologizes profusely. He seemed a bit perturbed when he first turned around to see what hit him, but after hearing me apologize he just sort of shrugged it off. Then he went to pick up my disc (this is when I thought he was going to chuck it into the woods or do something horrible), and he threw it back to me. I felt really bad about the incident, but my apologizes were sincere and I think he knew it. Crap Happens! I was fortunate that I only hit his shoulder. I don’t want to think about what would have happened had the disc nailed him in the head.

I have two friends that have big arms but little control as far as accurancy.

The #8 hole at McClain in SA has a tree about 8 feet to the right in front of the tee box. My friend steps up and fires a Valk right into the trunk of the tree. It hit the trunk, bounces back and slaps him flat in the face, knocking him on his butt.

I thought we'd have to call the paramedics. Not for him but for the rest of the group because we were laughing so hard, no one could breathe. LOL

#17 at McClain is a 400' with deep brush and woods on the right. There is a OB creek that runs about 15' right behind the basket so normally someone will go stand behind the basket and block any long errant shots that head for the creek.

Another friend of mine duffs his drive into the brush on the right and tells the rest of us to go ahead while he looks for his disc. We finish the hole and start back to help him when we see him flip his disc out into the fairway about 200' out. He yells he is going to go for the basket.

The guy who took one to the face and I say we'll block for him. He throws a Destroyer like a rifle shot, low and flat and all I did was duck. My other friend (Discface) sticks his leg out to block the shot and takes one right on the shin.

It took about a 1/2" of skin and meat right off his shin. It was hilarious watching him jump around yelling expletives, trying to laugh with tears pouring down his face.

I sponsor this kid in Colorado. He was practicing before a tournament at a local park with 3 others. The park was nearly empty and they were flying through the holes. He ripped a drive low to the ground on a hole that dropped off after a small rise. Sure enough, some man and woman popped up heads first on the horizon just as that drive cleared the crest. It caught her right in the center of the forehead and cut her right to the bone. Of course everyone ran over there feeling terrible. The woman was lying in the grass with an unbelievable stream of blood flowing out while her husband screamed ever swear word he knew.

They tried to file a suit but the park district told them to go pound sand. The course had been there and they were clearly walking in the fairway.

however, those guys learned a big lesson that day...send a spotter on blind holes. Never think it is clear.

A while back I was playing in the desert (palm desert course in ca) with my two brothers and dad when on one of my drives i threw it OB over a large cinder block wall which I them had to jump. After searching for a while, I found it but had no clue as to where the hole was since the wall was so high, so instead of jumping over, I decided to let loose and tall hyzer in the vague direction of the hole. I didn't hear it land nor did I chain, but instead I heard the familiar voice of my dad screaming at me. After jumping over, I understood why he was screaming. The disc apparently came down straight on my younger brother and KNOCKED HIM OUT COLD! Needless to say my fun for that ended.

You know your hardcore disc player when you are more concerned about not finishing your round than trying to help your unconscious brother.

I was teaching my wife how to throw in a field. I was standing behind her watching her and giving her tips. She was having trouble with the release point, and on one of them she held on so long that she threw it back towards me (I was at about 5 o'clock). It hit me square in the chest. My dad was tossing my Hydra (~175g?) to me and threw it almost vertical, and I tried to clap my hands on it but mis-timed it and instead it hit me square in the forehead. Luckily that is a very broad rimmed disc and it hit me in the thick part of the forehead, but I have rarely felt more stupid on a DG course.

Seriously though, if someone got hit in the head at 20-50 feet with a 400' drive I think it could kill them. Like a boomerang sort of...

I whacked a dude in square in the back just a couple of days ago. He and 3 other guys were standing on the tee box for the next hole, which on this course is only 50 feet to the left of the basket that I was shooting at. I yelled "head's up" and then "fore" before it got to them, but they were drinking and oblivious. The guy never moved an inch and got a star monster square in the back. Lucky for him it had already traveled 300ft and was slowing down to a fade. His buddies thought it was hilarious. I ended up playing the next two holes with them to finish the round. That was the first time I've hit someone with a disc, but they should have been paying attention. They weren't just passers by.

I hit somebody once. I had a nice approach which left me about 12 ft from the basket. My buddy overshoot his approach and was 10 ft past the basket on the opposite side. My putt was something awful and hit the bottom of the basket. Without even thinking I picked up my driver in frustration and whipped it at the basket. Of course I missed badly and nailed my friend right in the breadbasket.

I felt horrible, not cause I nailed him, but because I could not stop laughing. There was a line across his stomach for about a week.

I hit somebody during a sanctioned B tourney! I was playing the lower hole of crossing fairways. Etiquette is to let the higher hole throw first. So Im waiting for a beginer to throw his upshot to a blind basket. He takes some practice swings and then takes off running toward the basket. Me focusing on my upshot didn't notice he didn't actually throw! He was just getting a visual on the basket! So when he ran back to his disc, it was just the time I let go! Nailed him in the chest! I was so pissed! I wanted to be angry at him for getting in MY way, but HE had the right of way!!!

When my son was about 14 or 15, I played doubles with he and his buddies and of course we had to bet something. They didn't have much money. For a while we played for discs so everyone carried a crappy disc they could afford to lose. Then we decided to play "Butts Up". I used to see HS kids playing that after rec basketball gym rat games. Basically, the losers had to assume the swat position (bend over, hands on the wall) and the winners would each get to throw a basketball at your backside from about the 3 point line.

So after our doubles games, the losers would have to assume the butts up position against a tree or stump, the winners would step back probably 75 feet and fire one disc at your butt. I tell you, it was a terrifying moment! Really, you seldom got hit, maybe 1 in 10 throws, usually the disc sailed wildly by. My biggest fear was one was going to skip between my legs and catch me on the chin. Or I always imagined taking one right off my achilles heel. The kids I was playing with were all HS baseball players with strong arms and they would wind up and fire these scary overhands at you. Other players on the course thought we were frickin nuts. They would gather and wait for us to finish just to watch our spectale. I was trying to be the old macho guy and show the kids how manly I was but inside I crappin bricks.

I hit a goose a couple years ago. I was at Freeman Lake in Elizabethtown, Ky throwing over the water on hole 16. The hole is only like 250ft, but it's all over water except the last 15 feet and you can't be very far left of the basket either because there's water there also. So I throw nice and wide so I'll be safe on the right and my disc hit the a goose in the back that was sleeping under a tree. The goose wasn't very happy, but at least I didn't loose a disc in the water :)

i understand getting hit is painful but this was uncalled for......

so i was playing a round with my dad and bro at rutgers university and since their sort of new to the game i went on without them and at hole 6 i threw a near perfect shot that deflected off of a tree and nailed a guy in the elbow but i mean i wasn't as fast due to the tree. anyways he pulls out a swiss army knife, stabs my disc and yells "how the hell are you playing frisbee with one person" (he also used some words a bit out of my vocabulary)

i was really upset and he was a huge most likely football player and im just a sophmore in high school so i really couldn't do anything i was a bit discouraged but i caught up with my dad and told him the story. he was pissed at the guy but its a good thing i threw a beat up dx viper i later convinced him to buy a star max for me to make it up. :)

I was playing about two weeks ago on a wide open 450 foot hole and there is a father and his litle girl right smack in the middle of the fairway in my normal landing area. I attempted to throw to the left of these two and it faded right back. The disc sailed right over their heads maybe five feet above their heads causeing dad to duck and landing maybe ten feet from them. I just walked up and threw my next shot. I don't mind shareing the park, but there is open space all over this park away from the golf course and all of the ball diamonds were unused at the time. Good thing stupidity is not fatal.

I was playing this small, overly crowded, very poorly designed course. The hole I was on was around 280, nice straight tunnel that dumped to the right at the end, maybe 20ft off the tunnel. Sadly the tee box for the next hole was PIN HIGH, and 20ft to the left of the tunnel. I was working on my smooth straight with a fade (RHBH), I can typically get this with my Avenger SS with medium power. I make the throw, sails nicely until the end, a gust of wind comes through from R to L, my disc fades hyzer. I see this at the last second, yell FOUR!!! The disc skips just behind there tee box, and skips up into a group of 4 guys (near there ankles) - It appears the disc may have clipped one of the guy's foot/ankle. He comes walking past me (Literally his hole is right back in my direction) all grumpy yelling at me that "the proper rules say I should have yelled four" I inform the guy that I did in fact yell FOUR, and then apologized to the guy. He continues to mumble under his breath about how all the people don't know the rules.

At this point the guy honestly pissed me off. He was a douche, and by douche I mean all of his shots were going maybe 150 with a huge hyzer and he was acting like he was a PRO. He was just complaining because he did not hear me, and I guess I grazed his poor foot.

Either way I turned to the guy and said to him (in front of his four friends) - "Dude, I'm sorry if my shot grazed your foot, I yelled FOUR".

In all fairness, my shot went approx 280ish, and straight down a tunnel. The shot traveled at MOST 10-20ft off of the line that I threw it on.

The bottom line here, that course in VA Beach is NOT designed very well, and has a lot of traffic on it. I shook it off as no biggie.

I mean hey - the people I was there to play with were constantly telling me about how everyone there is getting hit with various disc's.

Needless to say - it was a very eh - experience.

I got hit Saturday for the 1st time. it sucked.

Its been a cold nasty winter up here in Maine so we havent gone out many times, and this past weekend was one of the rare good weather weekends (temps got above freezing finally and we hit 40 degrees!) so out we went. we had lost a couple of drivers already in the snow so had started going part way up the fairway to spot each others drives on blind holes. I stood off at a 40-45 degree angle with several smaller trees between us. My buddy drove and sure enough it was a bad throw which then proceeded to flawlessly weave its way through the trees separating us and nail me. I saw it coming and turned so i took it mostly in the back.

Its about as much fun as you'd think it'd be. lol

I was playing ball golf about 6 years ago and one of the guys i was playing with hit a 7 iron off the tee and landed it about 20 feet left of the green right off someones head. the guy flinched but didnt really seem to be affected by it too much. I dont know how he didnt have a concussion.

I took my brothers out about 2 years ago with my nephew. I had kept telling my nephew to stop going up to the basket when people were putting. He didnt listen and my brother gave him a nice Scottie Pippen bump right on the forehead.

i've heard some stories about a guy snapping his achilles tendon in va beach...maybe a rumor?...it is a "shortish" course with baskets and next tees close together on some holes.i have witnessed many people hit and one day i drilled a guy that was walking with his head down to the next tee..i yelled fore a few times, and when he finally looked up, it hit him like a mike tyson right. good thing this was 1995 and i threw a cobra. i have also been hit a few times also...it's a course design or execution flaw but it is good to know when you are playing such a course...blind holes where the group behind you doesnt look first or noone yells clear...i got whacked in the middle of my back putting at a hole in north carolina within 200 feet of the tee but it was a blind downhill and they didnt look first...

I'm bad about after mossing a putt picking up my approach disc (if I don't use a mini) and then firing it at the basket when my friends are walking to the basket to retrieve their discs. I've come close to hitting them, but I just need to stop doing that.

Yeah, I do that to. I have tried to stop after nearly hitting my friends on several occasions. That would suck to nail your friends with a TeeBird from point blank range out of anger.

At lake lewisville someone I was with threw a low hyzer-flip from hole 13 teepad towards hole 10 teepad. Some guy tried to protect his ladyfriend and put his foot out to catch the disc and it hit him right in the ankle.. the guy was limping and my friend went up and apologized for nailing him. Its called get out of the way if you see it coming from 100 feet out.

Throwing overhand shots with a Z-Flick one must fully understand the capabilities of such a disc,it will hurt very badly if it comes down on top of you.I think they call it a tombstone when it sticks in the softer grounds for more then one reason. For God sake even if your not hitting your usual distances don't throw when people are clearing from places you have landed before.I got hit with a hyzer(champ Valk) once from just under 300ft away at Alex Clark In Mckinney(It hurt kinda). The Z-flick woulda layed me out.

I threw first and it curved hard right into the woods. So, I quickly ran after it because I didn't want to loose where it went in. Then my boyfriend throws. He went hard left. After a little searching I found my disc. I was just picking it up when I hear something comming at me, fast. It hit me in the back. After it hit me he yelled "Fore!"

That hurt like a mother ****er.

I nailed a guy in the right testicle with a Valkrie from 130 feet away. His wife was laughing! good thing they were drunk.

I couldn't see him because the teepad is 30 feet up a hill and behind a large tree, and when I walked up the stairs to go to the teepad I didn't see him on the fairway when I checked. I didn't see him get hit because it did dive bombed turn around and over the tree...must have been the wind.

We were playing Cache la Poudre in the Fort Collins, CO area. That course is very short and very tight. There are tees that are almost on other fairways. my wife missed her release point and threw way left and it was a bullet. It hit a guy about 40 feet away at another tee, bounced off him and hit his friend. Fortunately it hit their upper legs and didn't hurt anyone. We yelled fore, but there wasn't time for them to respond. Sorry, guys.

I finally pegged my first kid last week, I had a ~30' putt I was trying to sink with my super stupid soft Warlock when the wind picked it up and it glanced off the basket's number plate and hit a Mexican kid in forehead who was inexplicably running towards the basket. It didn't hurt him any and he had a sh#t eating grin on his face but his madre didn't look too happy. The perks of playing El Norte de Asheboro park.

I've been pegged in the back of the head lightly from about 15 feet away. He was trying to scare me by tossing it over my head, well he missed and it did sting.

One of my friends glanced off a car once as it was driving down the park road that has holes on both sides. The middle aged couple inside freaked out on him and were yelling about calling the cops. They eventually cooled down and just left but he was a bit shook up over it.

Yeah, I hit a kid once, knocked him right down. Yelled and screamed at him but he didn't see the disc at all - ran up to see if he was OK but his Mom got there first, grabbed him and hustled him off to a car before I got there. Man, did I feel rotten! Called the local hospital later to see if any kid had come in to the ER, but no, I guess he was OK.

Got payback a few weeks later when my daughter teed off and smacked me right in the back of the neck!

I was hitting golf balls over my back fence one day and my Australian Cattle Dog stepped in front of me. I thought she was short enough and far enough away but I was using a driver. The ball hit her in the side so hard that it made a noise like a large tree branch breaking followed by blood curdling yelp. She fell to her side and I thought I had killed her at first. After about a minute she was up running around and wagging her tail.

Now when she sees a golf club she hides...poor thing.

I got hit last week by this huge group of drunkards last week. I was my 4th round at Brewer park and they were on the 9th hole. I told them that I was gonna run through real quick cause I didn't want to wait to play behind them. They said alright and I was walking very fast through the hole, one person tested the distance and came close to hitting me. I looked back like guys wait one second. Next dude throws and they yell fore right as its about to hit me. It hit the button on the top of my baseball hat and had i not flinched, it would have rocked me in the back of the head. God forbid I didn't look up or look back at them cause I would've been rocked in the face. Even with skimming me the disc still went 60 feet in front of me, did they really think I was out of range? Now I know why I don't like alcoholics.

I was playing with a group of friends last summer and there is a fairway on one of the local courses with a small grove of trees in the center. One of the more experienced players was on the opposite side from the basket and threw a tomahawk over the grove. Another friend of mine was standing about 10 feet from the basket and said, "Did he just throw?" As soon as he said that the disc hit him right in the nuts. It was hilarious.

If the movie Dodgeball taught us anything it is guys getting hit in the nuts is funny.

I've never hit anyone, but I did get hit in the head last summer. Right above my left eye, a big gash and blood was everywhere. I didn't see the disc coming and it knocked the shades off my head. I went to the ER, and got 5 stitches. After I left the hospital, I had to call up my DG buddies to tell them what happened.

I was at Morley Field (San Diego) a month or so ago, teeing off on hole 11. All day I had been flipping the disc to the left (on this hole), so I took a lil off it. Well, this time it didn't keep fading left and got stable right (poka is lefty). There was a dude with 3 broads playing in front of us, and they were at the bench at tee 12. Sure enough, right when it left my hand, I knew it was gonna go to the other tee. We all screamed fore, but it F'n DRILLED one of the chicks (like we heard a loud "THUNK" when it hit her). I don't think they knew the "fore" was for them. At Morley, there are some holes that criss-cross and all you hear on that side of the course is "FORE!!!" from 8 different directions. Dude, I felt pretty bad. They left the course before I retreived my disc and had a chance to say sorry.

Just a suggestion....STOP WALKING IN FRONT OF SHOOTERS!!!! MOST PEOPLE THAT ARE PLAYING WON'T BE HIT IF THEY FOLLOW ETIQUETTE.....;)

Last weekend at Research PArk in College Station, TX my buddy Stevo drilled a litlle kid. Him and his posse walked up to hole 18 to tee of, only to find that there was a family of 20 playing throw and catch frisbee right in the middle of the fairway. They yelled fore, and asked the people to move. Told the people they had to throw, and the family said ya go ahead and throw, but still kept screwing around on the fairway. (Idiots)

So stevo tees off. 250 ft away, this 6-yr old was just in lala land, havin a good time, no idea whats coming despite all the warning shouts. The disc thankfully hit a tree, which slowed it down some, but it still jacks the kid RIGHT in the forehead. He compared it to this infamous youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoIGnIkwZPk, said it happened just like that.
So the kid gets laid out, bleeding everywhere. He was fine, but they had to take him to the hospital for stitches. Of course, the family was pissed, even though they told him to throw and ignored repeated warnings before and after. He's pretty sure if he hadn't had his posse with him, he wouldv'e probably had to run for his life and leave the disc behind. He felt pretty bad about it, but still, you wouldnt throw a picnic on a ball golf fairway, would you? Plus, watching the youtube video and imagining a disc instead, its pretty awful. Awfully funny.

We were playing Johnny Roberts the other afternoon when I was finishing up hole #1. Apparently I must have been behind a tree because some a-hole tossed his drive. NO sooer did I move out from behind said tree then I hear FORE!!... too late. I was hit right in the leg. Man Down! Man Down!

Playing at the local park, a couple of people were having a picnic/make-out session in the middle of the fairway on #3. After standing and waiting for a while (I had nearly skipped several holes due to the traffic) I decided that there was no way I'd hit them... they're too close. So I threw... the disc skipped and caught the rather large male in the thigh.

Whoops... they were nice about it though and blew it off. I was still a little perturbed because they still did not get up and move.

Story #1 - We were throwing on a football field and aparently I have a subconcious tendency to step to the left and admire my drives after I throw. I did this and stepped in front of my 9 year old daughter (she can thow about 250') just as she was in her reach back so she did not see me. She hit me perfectly centered in the back of the neck. I lost conciousness for a second but stayed standing. A 1' thick whelt popped up in a few minutes and it was sore for about 5 days.

Story #2 - Yesterday my nine year old daughter bent down in front of my 8 year old daugter just as she was in her reach back. The disc hit her in the right eye. It cut about a 1 1/2" gash on the brow and another 1/2" gash on the bridge of the nose. She bled like a stuck pig for about 10 minutes. We opted out of stitches because it stopped bleeding. Hopefully it heals without getting infected.

She played in her first tourney last weekend and took first place. Not only did she beat all the other girls in her division, she was so much better they unfairly put her on the lead card with the <16 year old division for the final round and she beat them head to head for the round and by total score for the tournament. I was practicing at this very open 4 hole course near me (Freedom park). I was working on my drives so I throw a pretty good one and it starts to fade right at the end (i'm a lefty). As I'm watchin the disc fly I see this guy jogging across the course and my disc faded directly into his shin and he fell over and rolled like 3 times. The best part was he gets up, looks at me, then runs back in the direction he came from. This lady who was watching me was laughing hysterically. I was just lost at that point.

I haven't personally hit anymore, but I was playing with someone who did. It was a short downhill hole of perhaps 190 feet. He wound up and threw. As we watched it sail past the hole we saw a cyclist coming down the street directly behind the hole. Luckily the disc only hit his bike, right on the gears actually. Now the disc has a near 1/2 inch deep gash in it. Damn DX plastic...

I was in a group at a weekly and one of the guys threw a soft something-or-other (point being that it was soft as hell). About half way through its flight, out of no where a little kid shot out from behind a tree and there was nothing that we could do. We couldnt even yell anything before it was too late. Got him right above the eye! Knocked the poor kid flat on his back! We all started running towards the kid as he began to run towards his parents.

Now at this point we are all "**** if they complain this could be really bad for the course" but instead this is what we heard:
kid: AHHHH!!! I got hit!!!!
Dad: Does it hurt?
kid: no....
Dad: then SHUT UP!

No lying. Thats what the dad said to his kid. It was the funniest most messed up thing I have ever heard.

Before starting our round my friends and I were warming up on the practice basket. I wanted to go grab my putters from the basket but waited on my one friend to toss his. I've hit a few people. The worst was when I was playing at Oak Grove in Fargo ND last summer. I had just aced hole 15 and teeing off at hole 16. Apparently I was a little too worked up still when I threw a forarm that turned over and curved left and went about 320-340 feet and shanked a guy in the back of the neck and took him to his knees.

The guy got up and chuckled about it and wasn't hurt. I was worried for a bit though.

We were out tossing discs back and forth to work on our throws in a field in a local park. My wife threw one that went probably about 50' better than normal and whizzed right at this older lady jogging on the path. I yelled look out and she ducked as it went right by where her head would've been. Whew...closest call yet.

I was out playing with my brother two nights ago it was his second time ever and he was trying sidearm for the first time. He had a short drive than on his second throw he hesitated for a second because there was a couple women walking on the path behind the basket, which was around two hundred fifty feet away. He looks at me and says "No way I can get it that far." So he reaches back and lets go a low s curving bomb, well for him, it gets past the basket than flies maybe five feet behind the two women and hits the fence that was another twenty feet past them. The women didn't even notice and kept walking, his face was classic.

The first time I played (three weeks ago), I took a disc straight to the bridge of my nose, breaking it -- the nose, not the disc. So, off to the ER we went for treatment, where we were told they'd stitched up another woman the day before; she'd apparently also taken one to the head and needed stitches. One of the worst parts about the whole ordeal was that the ER didn't believe what had happened to me -- they wanted to believe that my boyfriend had hit me.

And, yes, I'm ready to play again!

It is our responsibility not to hit folks with a sharp object that flies at 30 - 50 mph, imho...
or some folks even faster and harder...

I refuse to throw if there is a blatant risk of hitting a bystander.

I hit someone for the first time last week.

We were teeing off on hole 1 of Valley View (wi course). It is a pretty good sized hill and the teebox for hole 2 isn't that far out of the way. I let loose and right away we could tell it was headed to the 2nd hole teebox. About 15 people on the top of the hill yelled down (it was right before our league round so there were a bunch of people). Not one guy in the group even looked behind them. I nailed a guy in the back...I ran down to apologize and see if he was alright, but he shrugged it off and told me we should have yelled louder...because apparently 15 people yelling wasn't loud enough.

I was playing Kentwood Park, NC with a friend and two random guys we met there. If you've ever played there, you know it is tight. A lot of fairways play over the top of one another and there is a lot of ways to get pegged. This risk is furthered because it is right next to NCSU so 50 million people are there all the time. Well my buddy tees off on some downhill hole that's like 220 or something(12 or 13 maybe?). His line is supposed to float right over a nearby teebox which is heavily populated at the time. Well, he throws this blazing line drive and immediately yells "Fore!" Everyone else yells it too. Everyone on their tee eventually listens but the guy it is heading towards. It nails him in the lower back going very fast. We warned them and yelled when it was going in their direction. My friend apologized and king douche bag's only response was,"You hit me in the back, you dick!" Only at that point was it hilarious.

I hit a lady practicing at a park. It's a bittersweet tale. She was way out of my normal range. I wasn't going to throw and thought to myself, "I can't throw that far". So I chucked it...and it flew! It did the perfect distance s-curve. I kept thinking, "There's no way I'm going to hit that lady". It started fading right at her. I yelled "fore" not thinking that she didn't speak English and had no idea what I was yelling about. WHAM! Right in the ankle.

I was happy about throwing that far but felt really bad about hitting her. It was at the end of the flight so it wasn't going too fast. I had already given her son a disc and tried to teach him how to throw with broken Spanish and lots of pantomime. He did really well.

I blasted a lady in the knee last year on a ~300' tee shot with a Star Valk. She was walking on the sidewalk, and it was one of those throws you didn't think there was anyway it was going to end up where it did. We watched it fade left on a bee-line with her, and we yelled "heads-up" but she didn't even look up till it hit her. There was about a 10 second stare-off (from 300ft away) and she just walked off before I could go down there and apologize.

Lately, there have been some renegade tee-ball teams that have started to practice on parts of the course as the baseball fields are all reserved. Unfortunately, some 6 year old is going to get hit by someone because the coach is breaking the rules.

Me and my roomate were out at Castle Point here in VA teeing off on 9. From the tee, the fairway shoots over a creek and up a hill to the left, with the 4th tee on the right hand side. A mother and two kids were standing there just goofing around and they ignored every warning that went sent in her direction. My roomate is always bitching that he can never throw a straight shot, so he steps up and launches it. It was probably the longest and straightest he has ever throw it and it was headed directly for the family. The disc hit a branch on its top side, decended about 4 feet and hit the bench about 2 feet from were they were standing. To be honest im not even sure if they noticed but it scared the hell out us. They just walked away like nothing ever happened.

I've never hit someone, but my girlfriend's been hit twice, both times on the same course. The first time, she was crawling under a fence to retrieve a disc and got her pants caught on the bottom of the chain link. While she was trying to extricate herself, we hear FORE! and look up just in time to see a disc headed straight at her. I was too far away to help, and she couldn't move out of the way, so it nailed her right in the knee. She limped through the rest of that round, sat down for 10 min, and insisted on playing another.

lol I hit a kid in the foot with one of my drives on Sunday.

There were a bunch of kids playing catch out on the fairway for one of the holes that is right next to a baseball field. The 2 guys who were playing in front of me told them that they were right in the middle of a disc golf hole and might want to find somewhere else to play catch. No one listened.

When my drive started heading in their direction, I yelled out "Four!", no one moved. I yelled out "HEY! watch out!" and they just turned and looked at me like I was stupid.
One of the kids told me the disc rolled and hit him in the foot. I shrugged and said "well, I guess I'm lucky it didn't hit you in the head then." and went about my business.

i was playin a round with 3 buddies and the hole was right next to the street. it was a straight fairway. my buddy hucks it and it skips off the roof off a guys car. it woulda hit him in the face but he ducked in to the passenger door to get something, he had no idea. and after he looked around, confused, saw us at the tee box, and actually walked the disc back to us. he wasn't even mad about it.

I was playing at Morley Field in San Diego, and hole 3 tees off right next to the parking lot. Someone had decided that they should extend the parking lot a little, and parked basically right in front of the tee. Because the ground slopes down from the tee, the roof of the car was right about waist height as you were standing on the tee. A group of local pros were right in front of me, and I was walking up to the tee right as they were teeing off. They decided that they should add a mandatory to the hole: drive must skip off the roof of the car. (Note: I do not endorse this behavior, but I also did not feel sorry for the car owner as the lot is used only for disc golf) After the 6 of them teed off, there were 6 very pretty little colored scuffs on the roof of the car. Here's a view from the tee, you can just see the corner of the lot at the bottom left:

I was playing today with Springdglover and some friends. With 6 people on the card, it got a little tricky at times. Springdglover was getting his disc out of the basket and was walking away with someone through their putt. That person missed and nailed him right in the butt. It was really funny to see, and he just laughed and shook it off.

Those guys were dicks. That's the kind of stuff that ends up giving this sport such a bad rap.

I have been smoked once...I was getting a disc out of a tree, and the next thing I know, someone slapped me on the butt. I turned around, and was all alone. Turns out, a guy teed off and didn't see me, and smoked me right in the glutes. It was pretty funny- he was pretty worked up about it, but honestly it didn't hurt at all.

I was playing Barnett North side Saturday, and I got hit. It was a friends putt through the trees. It was on the 9th hole during our 3rd round, so I was not paying enough attention and stepped into his line from. It didn't hurt, though I felt really bad for messing up his shot. We had 8 or nine people in our group and I had thought everyone had made their putts.

Middle Creek?

I had a similar experience there, we were playing 18 and saw there were 2 girls playing catch like 10 feet away from each other. We waited a minute, then said "Heads up!" and threw. When we were walking past them they were giving us crap. We didn't say "move", we said "heads up". Much different, either way they told us about some national tournament blah blah there was plenty of space for them to practice throwing 10 feet.

That's gotta be 16, that happens all the time, or almost does. The dicks never look at you teeing off from 17, we just yell if it's heading that way.

Missouri's first disc golf course is on small land. Not a bad course, but some holes you're throwing right past other people coming up a hill. So I threw on 7, these people were standing on 10 teeing off. 10 tee is about 10 feet behind 7 basket. So my throw was perfect, nice rhfh fade to the right, it hit the ground right before the basket, then skips up 4 feet and hits a guy in the leg on 10 tee. He wasn't mad, it didn't hit him hard, I still felt bad and ran down to them to apologize...

My friend and I were playing Earl W. Brewer park in Grand Rapids and if anyone has been to that course they know that it's usually crowded and on one of the 9's (four sets of nine holes), it's more crowded because it is a very short 9. We had got to the 5th hole which is about 200 if that and started to throw. The group in front of us was on the next hole which the fairway is right behind the basket for the hole we were on. My friend threw his Z Buzzz (pretty stiff plastic by the way) and it was going long towards the hole behind the basket. We yelled heads up but it was too late. The buzzz sliced through 5 or so trees and nailed some kid directly in the balls. Of course he toppled over and laid on the ground for about 5. I felt bad for him but damn that was pretty funny.

There used to be a rooster that hung out around holes 7-9 at milo mciver park... he would chase you around if he felt you were in his space. One time the rooster was chasing my friend off of hole 8 and my buddy turned around and threw his wraith in one motion... the rooster was about 10 feet away... it resulted in a flying cloud of feathers and a thundering "BAGOK." We didn't see him again for a few weeks, he did turn up again but moved his home to a new hole. I don't know where he is now though... RIP Rooster.

Closest was at Burke Lake back in the late 80's on old #9. I was playing the long tee and never come within 50' of reaching the pin before. I'm following a 4-5 player group and they stop and chat around the basket after holing out. I holler and wait a bit, the conversation continues. I figure what-the-heck, I'll never reach'em and drive. I hit the number plate on top of the pin dead center with an old rock hard P38 Lightning, made a nice loud bang. That ended the conversation and the group took off. In hindsight it was really stupid of me, that disc really could have hurt someone, I just didn't think I had a prayer to reach them. Since no one did get hurt, it was funny as hell. I bet those guys learned how to clear a green.

came pretty close yesterday. hole 12 at eagle ridge in oswego IL. took out my best sidearm disc(champ firebird) i figure it will get about 20 feet from the basket or what i usually do and goes straight right into a creek bed, but this disc wasnt having it this time. i saw a group of people down looking for a disc and i could of swore they had left. so i let it rip, it has a perfect line but skips oh so soon off of mulch/dirt sails over the basket hits the tree behind it coming within a foot of the guy standing against the tree, let me tell you it wasnt fun walking down to my disc seeing people just look at you like your stupid. A few of us were playing our second round late in the day after say 1 or 2 or 14 beers and well one of my friends has a bad habit of walking in front of us. His brother in law who also was drunk threw a driver full speed into his head from maybe 20 yards. It didnt even faze him, he just kept walking. A few weeks ago, playing Prospect Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1713), Moline, IL, I come to hole 9 where it is immediately obvious that there is construction going on in this area of the course, they're re-doing the trails or something. I skip hole 9 as there's these 2 daunting looking construction workers tearing a hole in the middle of the fairway with some heavy machinery, I want nothing to do with that. 10 is playable, and 11 plays back the direction of 9's fairway, I decide that I'll be able to miss the construction guys so I rip my Buzzz on a slight turnover line, directly towards the excavator. All of the "FORE" I could muster was lost in the "VRRRM Crash clunk VRRooM". The actual scene is just out of my sight, I hope I only hit the machinery as I bashfully approach the site, expecting to get my butt handed to me. Dude on the ground is standing there waving my disc, I wave back and walk his direction. I immediately begin apologizing "I'm so sorry, I feel so bad"
Dude's like "Thanks, I needed a wakeup call, I was starting to doze off"
"$hit, did I hit you?"
"Clocked me right in my hardhat man, knocked it right off"
"Oh no, I'm so sorry man"
"Nah dude, that's why I wear it right?"
"Uhhh... sure" as I take my disc and walk away.

I've never hit anyone with a disc but when I played soccer in high school we were warming up before the game and taking shots; well the other team had little kids out behind the goals kicking the balls back to us as we shot. So I go to rip one from 30 yards out and this kid runs right in front of the goal to grab a ball. As soon as I kicked it I knew I was going to hit him.. it did.. right in the head and took him off his feet. Everybody on my team was basically giving me **** for it but the kid got up and didn't cry so he was okay. It looked worst than it was.

During my second round today I overthrew a hole that has a walking path behind it. I didn't know there was anyone on it until some people walking on the path near me pointed and seemed to be talking about it.

Apparently a couple walking a dog were standing behind a large tree so that I could not see them from the teepad. I asked the people near me if I had hit them and they said "I don't think so but I'm pretty sure that husky thinks he found a new chew toy."

Sure enough, when I got to my disc it was laying on the path and half of it was covered in 1/4" of slobber lol.

When we first started playing, my brother, cousins and I all wondered what it would be like to get hit with a discs. One thing lead to another and I agreed that I would let my cousin side-arm a Destroyer at me from about 65 ft. out. I should have known his best throw would come when he was aiming for my ass. I couldn't sit for that day and it left a mark for about a month.

The only reason I let him was because I had knocked him out with a tennis ball the night before. Long story short, I was just rifling serves at the tennis ball containers after playing and my brother pushed him in the way. It hit him right on the temple and he just dropped.

She screamed in shock and pain at first, then saw the horrified guilty expression on my face and just started laughing at me.

I hit a lady about a month or so ago on hole 17 at ferry park right in the arm. The sun was going down and I couldn't quite see the lady sittin on the bench. So I crushed my katana and it ended up flipping over. Right before it hit the lady I saw her and tried to yell fore but it was to later. It hit her on her forearm and skipped probably thirty feet from the basket. I ran over to the lady and she was yelling at me in Spanish. Buy once I got her cooled down and told her it was an accident and how sorry I was she became pretty cool about it. I would have to say a katana is probably one of the worst discs to get hit by. My suggestion is to keep an eye out for people in your fareways because hitting someone sucks!

My brother caught an Orc in the back of the head from about 10 feet. He spaced out and walked right in front of our buddy's lie as he was throwing. Luckily, the guy throwing doesn't have much power, so it didn't do any real damage. Left a good bump though.

I came as close as I ever have to hitting someone Saturday morning. There were kids just running through the course, and on hole #7 they jumped out from the woods right after I let go of my drive. I yelled "FORE!" as soon as I saw them (first thing that came to my mind), and they stopped just in time to see a KC Aviar go right in front of them. Couldn't have missed one of them by more than a foot.

Would there possibly be a YouTube video of said event?

I've never hit anybody, but I've been nailed 3 times now. The first was an errant drive from a guy 2 fairways over that hit me in the calf as I was getting ready to make my approach shot. The second and third were both by the same buddy of mine that randomly takes second shots while I'm walking ahead to my lie. He's since learned to announce that he's going to throw another.

Never hit anyone thank gawd. Almost though; last week I was teeing off at Howling Coyote and shanked a DX Leopard and narrowly missed a cyclist on the path that runs parallel to hole #1. I didn't bother to go look for my disc (bad juju, karma or whatever you call it.)

i recently hit a young kid and it was terrifying. there was not a person in sight so i was good to throw. i have about 425 feet of power with my star destroyer and the kid walked out of the woods about 280 feet into the flight of my disc. me and my group all screamed but the kid had no time to react and it caught him in the side of the head/ear area. i cant imagine what the damage may have been if it had hit him square.

these guys were looking for a lost disc they let us play through. one guy stepped to the right of the fairway just behind a tree. it was a short hole so i wasn't driving too hard but it somehow found its way just behind the tree directly into the guys chest.

i said sorry, we all laughed it off. i felt terrible

i hit my friends on purpose with putters sometimes when they stand near the basket while i'm putting. i'll intentionally airball it at them and say "whoops, sorry"

No, but a guy on my card got smashed in the face once. Teebox was close the a different holes fairway and a advanced woman throws a driver off the tee and starts yelling FORE! so he turns towards the teebox and it clanks him right in the lip. Busted it wide open and he had to have stiches.

While playing with a group of co-workers I got hit with a wraith in the knuckles. We had all driven already and we were looking for a disc and my boss decided to drive through us (clearly a dick move). I was about 30ft away and it was a hefty toss so needless to say my hand was sore for a few weeks! Personally I've only almost hit someone once but it was a scary moment. I tomahawked a star boss just as an old dude popped out from behind a tree about 200ft ahead. The disc slammed down about a foot in front of him. It's always been a bit of a joke between me and my friends that being hit by the boss would probably be pretty rough so I was glad when the guy waved and kept going!

I don't care what stories you have heard about me but I never hit the guy. I did a quick take down and grasped him by the throat and threatened to crush his face but I never swung.

About 10 years ago on Hole 18 at Knob Hill.........

I was throwing some practice mid-range shots. Apparently my dog was bored because she decided to pick up one of my discs (the only time ever!!!). So, I grab my 180 gram DX Innova Hammer and throw the disc towards her to try to get her to drop it. The disc ended up skipping about 3 feet in front of her and hit her in the belly from about 250 feet out. She dropped the disc and looked at me like WTF??? It was coming in so softly when it hit.

Still my best throw to this day!!!
