Awesome!! thanks for all the info!
one question. what up with the mulligans and anti mulligans?
Vegan Ray
11-11-2009, 11:04 AM
Mulligan = you get to rethrow a poor shot
Anti-mulligan = you get to force another competitor to rethrow a good (or poor, if you are a kindly gent) shot (may be used on anyone on any card, not just yours)
biscoe
11-11-2009, 11:05 AM
a timely anti-mulligan allowed me to win the golf event last year.
DGChronicles
11-11-2009, 11:37 AM
ooh...very interesting... are you allowed to retrive your disc for a mulligan/anti?
biscoe
11-11-2009, 11:42 AM
not sure there's a defined ruling on that but you would only have 30 seconds to throw so you'd have to be really quick about it if so.
Vegan Ray

If some poor soul tried the "retrieve & rethrow" gambit on anything longer than a putt, I'd work him relentlessly for the entire 30 sec. and the remainder of the entire round. He'd realize it was not worth it.

I am also going to the Loriella Tourney... i am very excited and was wondering how well regulated it is. As in are there spotters and is a marker disc required for fairway drives and puts? was the tournament fun last year? how many ameratures were signed up? thats a lot of questions i know but it is my first tournament as well.
Vegan Ray

Spotters not really needed at Loriella. All PDGA rules are in effect, with the mulligan & anti-mulligan codicils.
Oh yeah, and courtesy violations directed against Erik Smith are also specifically allowed.:D

Recently played Loriella for the 1st time last weekend. It was an outstanding time but I was glad to have a map. Only got lost briefly finding tees once and can't wait to play the long ones. Was psyched to go till I checked my calendar. Xmas Gig! Perhaps another time. Have Fun!!!

I am going to try and get off work for this.
Hey Biscoe if I can get off work your chili crown is going down. You can take that to the bank!

Loriella is a great course. This sounds like a good time - I may have to make the trip. While we're looking for info on tourneys in the area... does anyone know anything about the Pohick Bay Fling-A-Thing on the 5th? A tourney there could be interesting - is it sanctioned?
biscoe
11-14-2009, 10:22 AM
pohick will be sanctioned as best i know- the td told me it was in the works about a week ago. ams saturday, pros sunday.

I work at Lowe's. To guarantee the day off I have to give 30 days notice. I did not find out about this until the 30 days had been passed. So I am hoping that it will all fall into place and I can go.

Does anyone know which set up will be used? The course has both dual tees and dual pins. Since it is a for fun tourney/fundraiser for the Food Bank I was just curious.
DGChronicles
12-03-2009, 09:07 PM
not sure but we went a couple weeks ago and some pins were in the short and some were in the long position...were going up on sunday so i'll see if they move anything around.
biscoe
12-04-2009, 10:47 AM
i believe pins will be mixed and we'll play the short tees both rounds due to short daylight- i'll check with the td and let you guys know if this is incorrect as well.
tried vegan rays prototype chili at poker wednesday night- excellent.
biscoe
12-04-2009, 05:36 PM
pins will be mixed, ams will play short tees both rounds, pros may play long tees second round depending on turnout/weather/etc.
biscoe
12-09-2009, 05:33 PM
and in this corner...
vegan ray (crowd boos and farts) with:
Eggplant-peanut chili
Rocoto mole chili w/ veggie meatballs
in the opposite corner:
biscoe (crowd goes wild, biscoe hands championship belt off to underling) with:
two time defending champ white bean turkey chili
smoky 3 mushroom black bean chili
and (maybe) red chili with chicory stout and chocolate
i'm predicting a victory for infrequent poster and last year's chili runner up rickg.
hopefully the real winner will be the food bank.

biscoe (crowd goes wild, biscoe hands championship belt off to underling)
Lack of belt causes pants to drop around ankles. Embarrassing thimble-like microphallus is revealed to the crowd to riotous laughter & jeering. Biscoe's resultant tears & blubber-snot foul all three of his entries, resulting in immediate disqualification. Biscoe recomposes & bravely continues the event despite the multitude of snickers, whispers, & sideways glances, then drowns self in semi-frozen pond after splashing down 4 consecutive skip-thumber approaches on #12.
hopefully the real winner will be the food bank.

my thong would still cover my microphallus.
no long tees so no skip-thumbers.
golf side bet? i'll give you 10 strokes on the day- loser pays extra $20 to food bank.
and as far as chili goes...

so does anyone remember the winning AM score from last year? and are gonna be scoring everything as a par 3 like it has on the DGC review page? cause a 54 par on that course ir rough...
biscoe
12-11-2009, 12:27 PM
no idea on the am score, i think i shot something along the lines of 48,50 for the 2 rounds and won open in a playoff.
par doesn't really matter for purpose of tourney play (does matter for other reasons we won't go into here) unless you miss holes at the beginning of a round.

small turnout for such a great event but we raised about $400 and maybe 100 # of food for the food bank.
every am who played got a fat payout of schwag (for the second year in a row) due to so many donations of plastic. tell your friends what they missed out on.
i couldn't make a putt to save my life (usually not my problem) and let vegan ray take me down on the golf bet. he bagged in intermediate and won a ton of stuff.
tom coffin won open as well as chili with a yummy green pork recipe. my chili was under-salted and under-spiced.

W3rd. $525 raised per J. Shattuck. Weather was good. Chili was fantastic (lotsa leftovers, as usual). Meeting the VCU Engineering boys was quite cool. Y'all need to drive up to Spotsy for a Grange Friday Glow session or a monthly. Killer prize pack (Phenix bag, 10 high-end plastic discs, $50 in Grange bucks). Thanx Jeff & Bob, all chili chefs, and every player who came out & supported the Food Bank!!
