Bobby and I plan on being there....unless it's raining and/or snowing <highly doubtful>. Hoping it will be a little dryer this year than last year though!

Dryer? That's where the "mess" part comes in.

Luckily, the old 17 teepad is no longer there. It was the worst about getting wet, muddy, and slick in the winter. (It's location is 15' under the pond surface, so it's even wetter, but used much less frequently).

Snow would be fun....especially trying to retrieve discs from the #18 basket.

And ya'll have to have the longest putt on Hole #18...I need another case of beer....hehehehe

I suspect we will, though I really think you should learn to lay up.

Other people like beer, too, you know.

(For the unfamiliar who wander into this thread, #18 basket is on top of a huge mound next to OB. We give a box of beer to the person who hits the longest putt, because we like tempting people to try foolish shots. Some think it's easier if you have the beer before attempting this putt).

It appears we'll be unveiling 3 new holes. The new hole for the "original 18", plus 2 holes of the future "extra 8", for a 20-hole layout. All of which can be birdied.....but, naturally, can get in in trouble, too.

Plus an alternative tee on the peninsula hole; we'll use one round from the original tee, one from the new tee, and solicit opinions afterward.

I predict we'll have great weather for this......

Because we've been enduring some pretty nasty weather while trying to get the course ready.

Survivors of last year's Chris "Mess" Bash will be glad to know that the old #17 teepad---the one that had a mud overflow and was so slick on a hole that required an uphill blast---no longer exists, it's location some 15 feet below water level.

I hope your prediction is accurate...love to see some great weather on the weekend again.
And I know it's WAYYYY too much to ask for...but it'd be nice if it wasn't windy as well!! Breezes are fine 40+ mph gusts are not!

6-days out, forecast is for cold, sunny, nice (high 50). May get some rain 2 days earlier, but shouldn't be nearly as soggy as we were this weekend after 2 or 3 inches fell. The folks who came out, survived.

We've pretty much nailed down the extra holes. They come give us a stretch of 3 birdieable holes before #18---all about 270-280', but with OB a possibility.

If we do have wind, they'll turn into beasts, though.

Chris/David:
Thanks again for a wonderful tourney! I thought everything went very well, even though it was still a bit wet! I did like both teepads for hole #15, although I seemed to have a better look at the basket from my drive on the newer one vs. the older one....but either way it was a 3! Loved how #16 flowed after that hole....teepad was much easier to walk to vs. the old one. #16 was tough , but fair! The alternates were good. Only really bad spot....#2 teepad/walkpath. Definately the worst spot on the course. Don't know if there is a "fix" for this or not...I like the hole, and like how it flows from #1 to #3. There was a mess at the walkway to #3, but was small and tolerable. Only 1 suggestion....maybe some type of stairs from #10 to teepad to #11.
Overall a great experience...even if Alan did take the beer this year!

Thanks, Danny.

The mess at the bottom of 1 and the first part of 2 is partly unavoidable. Though it is seasonal. In summer, even after a deluge, these areas tend to stay pretty dry. On #2, when we get around to it, there are ridges of high ground on either side of the path; we just need to widen that fairway enough to walk on them. Still trying to figure out how to keep the #2 tee dryer during winter.

The new holes, and using 20 holes in the round, cut down on a lot of walking between holes we had previously. It'll be even better when we get the bridge restored on hole A.

We'll no doubt keep and use both tees on #15 (the peninsula). The new tee allows more of a rip, and you can go hyzer or anhyzer (or forehand or backhand, or lefty or righty). The old tee is a little more of a finesse shot. One idea of the new tee is that big arms can go for the green from there....though Coral got a "2" from the old tee!

Thanks to everyone who came to play in our yard. Attendance exceed our expectations. We lucked out on the weather---warmest day in a month, nice winds to make the pond holes more treacherous---unfortunately the record rains 2 days earlier did muck things up in places.

Look for the Stoney Hill Challenge in April, sanctioned, and our first 2-day event. Camping, bonfires, a full weekend.
