So here's the dilemma....My co-worker just realized he has over 10,000 frequent flyer miles; we would like to do a trip to some courses but don,t have much time, (our job only gives us 2 non-consecutive days off a week unless we take our vacation time which I reserve for family).

My question posed to all of you out there is this....Which Airport will yeild us the most courses close to the airport that we could hit in one day. (Flight time does not count, just course proximity to airport)

You could easily hit Idlewild, Lincoln Ridge and Mt. Airy (all really fun courses) a day from the Cincinnati airport, and there are plenty of other courses around all of those to fill out your day.

Not exactly where the airport is located in the area, but Dallas/Fort Worth has tons of great courses that are perfectly able to play at this time. Otherwise probably Minneapolis when it is a bit warmer.

Charlotte or Bowling Green, KY might be worth it for this time of year. Renny is right by the airport. Mpls is OK and the distance to any one course is short but the courses are spaced out in a big circle around the airport. You could head to Augusta and head out to the IDGC three courses which would take a day in itself.

Rochester NY!

You could play with TimG...but if you come in spring you can play Ellison, MCC, Basil, Baker, Parma, Sawyer Park, Churchville, Naples....

I think think of 20 courses that are with in 25-35 miles of the main Houston airport. More if you want to drive a little further. I am off this week, and next weekend. I could show you a few.

My recommendation would be to fly short and spend as little time in the air as you can. That means more playing golf. If you haven't travelled to Charlotte go there. You can hit great courses that include Rennaisance, Hornett's Nest, Winthrop and Brackkett's Bluff. There are also a bunch of other good courses in the same areas. Reedy Creek, Kilborne etc. Plus there is more than enough places to go at night to get a cold drink and have some fun. I think Nashville, TN is also a good place for that kind of trip. Lots of good courses and night life. Those would be quick flights for you so you could spend more time playing. The weather should also be OK there for winter golf. Otherwise go somewhere in Texas or out West and play some courses that are totally different than what you have near VA. Whatever you decide it will be better than work. Enjoy.

Denver.

Schedule a round at Phantom Falls and then play Beaver Ranch.

That's really all you need but you can hit more on your way back through Denver proper on your way to the airport.

If you fly into Providence, RI you can take a 45 min ride to Worcester MA and hit Maple Hills, Pyramids (home of Marshall St.), Buffumville, the new Newton Hill course, and a couple of others. If staying overnight, stay in Worcester and you can play a ton of courses all within about a 1/2 hour drive of Worcester. You won't run out of courses to play.
