View Full Version : Site Downtime on Nov. 18
The site will be down at some point between 12:01am and 5:00am CDT on Nov. 18. During that window, it will be offline for a maximum of 60 minutes but I'm guessing (hoping) less. The reason for the down time is that the server is being moved to a new rack in the data center.
Just a friendly notification so nobody freaks out and thinks the site disappeared :)

you adding more memory?
No, they're just moving it for whatever reason. It's not just mine that's being moved.

Kinda sucks they're doing that to you but it happens from time to time. Could be something as simple as a shortage of physical space in the room. I was gonna say if they were just moving yours or a couple of servers, I'd be surprised if it took anywhere near an hour, but if there are whole racks involved in some kind of complicated shuffle, well, there's this guy named Murphy...
Anyway good luck. It probably won't be much of a headache.

That's just great!
Hey, it could be worse. The humidifiers were kicking out too much vapor in our new data center last year so after just 6 months of being in there some rust was found and EVERYTHING in that datacenter is being replaced. THey're spending millions and it's not even a large DC. Lots and lots of work for us server guys so I'm not complaining.

thanks for keeping us in the know and not pulling a Demonoid on us.
Tonight's the night.. I have no idea at what point in that window the site will be going down but it definitely will be offline for an hour or less. Hopefully I won't wake up to a haywire server! :)

If you're runningon IIS then a shutdown and reboot should be a good thing over the longrun...but you're probably on something better than Windows so nevermind.
Don't stress until there is a problem man.

Ah, Windows. Old MS really knows how to keep the network guys off the streets at night.
I'm definitely not running a windows box :)
