Ok, This weekend I want advice for what courses in Delaware I should hit.

I was thinking Carousel, Iron Hill, and Branywine Creek

What Delaware courses should I hit (out of all courses in the state)

Then the Monday or Tuesday before thanksgiving I am hoping to play somewhere in VA with Zenbot.

Over Thanksgiving I will be in western NY playing with WillACarpenter and hope to meet TimG.

On November 29th I'd like to play in Corning against 80Playedin10states if the weather holds out and he agrees.

If anyone wants to meet up during any of these dates let me know.

Iron Hill and Carousel will take 2 to 3 hrs each to play. Try to find a local at both courses. Each are 9 to 10,000 ft in their current layout. For two brand new courses of this length only 15 minutes apart they couldn't be more diffrent. Together they offer an extreme day of golf.

I guess I am meeting Skinner21 and we are doing Brandywine and Carousel. I am leaving Ironhill for another day.
In my original plan I was expecting to be alone to zoom through at an hour and a half each, but people have told me it is not likely even playing alone at a fast past and impossible with another person. I extremely underestimated the Deleware courses.

When I play 3 courses I often don't enjoy the 3rd course if I am too tired, and it looks playing 2 Deleware courses is PLENTY of exercise.

I met with sidewinder22 (I guess I read the skinner s a femine product thread and had skinner on the brain, not sure where 21 came from) and Deleware was awesome.
My original plan of 3 courses was insane after seeeing these courses. For you NY people, this would have been harder than playing Baker Farm, Emery and Chestnut ridge in the same day. IronHill is a hard long beast of a course I ned to save for another time, but 2 courses are down.

I posted lots of pictures of Carousel, great course. Brandywind was a really good course also.
I am now 43Playedin10States :)

Oh and Apoth and Katana, we found a nice disc without a name and chased down the owner to return it :P. I even mentioned your name as we returned it, "Apothacary would be so disappointed in us right now :)"

I highly recommend crooked creek and earlewood in Columbia if you make it here. I played them both today and had an awesome time. Very challenging nice elevation, some water, and a lot of fun.

Edisto Memorial Gardens is half under water so dont go there

Maybe! ;) (Laughter ensues) Seriously, it's nice for Georgetown, and I know it's going to lead to more courses. In fact I spoke with G'town Parks and recs yesterday. The 4 new courses are still on, with Pawleys Island supposedly getting the first. When the first park is built, these baskets will go with it. and East bay will be no more.

I am going to play lesser courses that need reviews and pictures. It's all for DGCR :hfive:

When you driving down?

I'l be bouncing around Greenville on the 18th and I'll be in Georgetown breifly on the 19th. The problem is my wife and baby are with me so I can't stay at any one course for too long. I can play 18 then I have to move on.

Is it still?? I tried to play it over New Years weekend. Does it count if you played the first hole? lol I thought it was a park pond! I played the first hole, and when I saw the second tee, I about flipped! That was a wasted trip! I hit Barnwell, and thought I could sneak in Orangeburg.

Yeah I know there were some recent rains in the southeast so they must have been hit. I never got out of the car because I didnt want to have to drive for a few more hours with soaking shoes and feet.

I am glad I skipped it because I got to play crooked creek and earlewood both solid 4 disc courses in Columbia.

Earlwood is HIGH on my list, but I haven't heard much about Crooked Creek. I'll go check it out.

Ok here are the details of my trip:
On Saturday morning I left Maryland and drove up to River's Edge in PA, near the NJ border. I played that course and tried to zoom over to Yetter Park. Yetter was cool, but I was interupting the Ice Bowl, so I had to play quickly and skip holes that were too crowded (thanks again for letting me play during the Ice Bowl with my little fru-fru mutt.)
I spent the night in PA and in the morning I drove to SC to play Century Park and North Greenville University. I was able to introduce my dad to the sport finally at Century Park so that was awesome, but N. Greenville U was NOT AWESOME.
North Greenville was the first course I ever rated as a zero, it was 3 Innova Disc Catchers in a muddy field. I spent the night in Georgetown to play East Bay park with RussMB that morning and took off for North Carolina right after.
In North Carolina I played Luther Britt Park. There was an old couple on hole 8 watching the geese and they were taking up the entire tee, so I had to move to the next tee. I launched my dragon right into the pond. I tried to make a disc retriever out of a stick and my dog's leash, but my fingers slipped and I threw my dog's leash into the pond and yelled a not so nice word.
The old couple looked at me disgusted, but still did not move. then, I dropped trou and stripped down into my boxers and dove into the pond. Seeing the crazy dude in his underwear jump into cold water finally got the old dude to get his walker off the tee and leave, good thing too, because seeing me come out of the water would have been a far worse sight. I retrieved my dragon and my dog's leash and finished the game at a very cool course. I arrived in Maryland at almost midnight on Tuesday night.

I ended up playing 5 courses in 3 states and drove over 2,000 miles (with my wife and baby in the car)

Bold is the cliffsnotes version :)

That old man's reaction just earned you a 9.5 on the Prerubian Scale. :D

Sounds like you had a great trip. While you were gone, i started throwing 300ft in the practice field (finally).

Time for another trip. I am headed from DC to SW Florida. I am flying my wife and baby down ahead of me so I can play on the drive down, I am unsure what courses I want to play, but if anyone is on the way down and offerering a couch to crash in the Carolinas or Georgia and offering to be a guide for a course I would be interested.

Although it is a little out of the way, I have a stepgrandpa in Greer, SC. If I stay with him, I may be able to back pedal back to Gastonia for a round in the morning.

If your route wanders a little west, through Charlotte, you're welcome to backroad to Stoney Hill and crash there. Especially if it's late Friday or Saturday you're aiming for. Might add an hour to your journey, but it's a combination of free lodging, course, and guide in one place.

Regardless, from D.C., driving down I-81/I-77 is much more pleasant than I-95, worth the extra mileage in my opinion.

The courses in Rocky Mount, NC are much better than the ones in Fayetteville, NC. I don't recommend Fayetteville at all.

I wish I could remove all of the past posts and start over, but currently this looks like my current Holiday plans:
Right now it looks like I will be playing "The Sarge" in SC on the 23rd. "Ed Austin Park " in Jacksonville, FL on the 24th, Maybe "Pinebrook" in Venice, FL on the 26th along with a few Tampa and Fort myers courses that week. Have not planned the ride home yet.
I do have a back up plan that involves driving through Gastonia, but it adds 2 hours to the trip.

Heck of a drive ahead of you. Good Luck and hopefully the cold weather doesn't follow you down.
