I have a '08 Pumpkin stamped Innova Aviar putter. I'd assume it's PDGA legal since the regular versions of the Aviar are of course approved, but it doesn't say anywhere on it that it is. Are special edition discs approved as well as regular versions even if it doesn't say so? May be a stupid question (if so, sorry) but just thought I'd check before I tried to play in a tournament with it.

Custom stamped discs rarely say PDGA approved, but they are legal. Once the mold is approved, it's OK whether it says PDGA approved on it anywhere or not. So the pumpkin disc is OK.

Some discs I have bought only have the PDGA approved info on a sticker on the bottom.

On the subject of legal discs. I have a roc that I accidentally stepped on while playing a rocky course. A sharp rock went through the disc and put about a 1/8 inch cut in the top. Would that make the disc illegal?

If there is a hole of any size that goes through the disc, then I believe it is illegal in tournament play. That sucks that your Roc was destroyed by a rock.

Thanks a lot, I was pretty sure but I didn't want to take any chances.

Yeah I second that. I had a t-bird in my first tournament on Maui and it was punctured by a rock so after the tournament I never used it again. Fortunately they were pretty chill and since at the time I was an am 2 they let me play with it.

Thanks, I still use it, but I'm not playing any tourneys yet. I just don't see how such a small puncture changes the flight path.
