Playing the Cold Turkey Sat. We wanted to hit up some other courses, but my friend thought he heard that Brown Deer was closed. Is this True?

Accually do you have any suggestions for good courses in that area where we could play on Sunday?

Recomendations for courses in Milwauke area that are still open?

Here is what is open

I would recommend UW Parkside (in Kenosha) about 50 minutes south of dretzka between Milwaukee and Chicago.

Valley View in New Berlin is still open
Lime Kiln in Grafton
Dineen in Milwaukee (about 10 minutes from Dretzka) but I hate this course
Wales COmmunity Park (about 45 minutes west of dretzka)
Miniwaukan Park in Mukwonago

Those are all open, but Parkside has 39 holes now so I recommend that course. It will be brutal in the wind because it is a prairies.

It kind of depends where you are coming from but these are the best ones that are still open. Do a map search and if something is not in my list that you are considering PM me and I can give you more info if it is open or not.

I know for sure Village Park in Sussex is closed, Brown Deer is closed,

How about Watertown and Waterloo?

Waterloo (Firemen's Park) is perhaps the only nine I've given a three rating. Watertown (Rock River DGC) is a nice 18, especially the new, back nine; which boasts a few "championship" level holes. Unless Watertown has added tee signs, since I was there in mid summer, you will need a map or a guide. Both of these are half way between Madison and Milwaukee. Grafton is a very good "old school" nine, near Milwaukee.

Ditto the the Waterloo and Watertown courses! I enjoyed them both, slightly out of your way because you would want to go down I 43 instead of I 94, but still only 30 minutes extra drive.

If you havent played Anna Page in Rockford they have two good 18 holers at the same location.

Rockford has recently added a new set of very tough pin placements at the west course. They have also recently added very helpful tee signs.

How about Hiestand in Madison. Is that still open?

When will the full winter course at Dretzka be opened? I see in the course comments: (Updated on 11/16/2009 by harr0140) 9 holes are open on top, golf course section will open when ball golf course closes

It will open when the golf course closes whenever that is. The county wants to make money as long as they can. They do not set a date because they will keep it open as long as people come to play. With weather like this they will get a lot of golfers out there . . . but it is supposed to turn south. I would assume it might take the first snowfall that sticks to shut it down. However, I will update the conditions the first I hear of it unless one of the other guys on this sites sees it before me.

Here is what the GLDC site says.

"The top nine holes of the Dretzka Winter course have been installed. The remaining 13 holes will be available after the ball golf course closes (~ Dec. 1st)."

I think they do not make a decision until necessary, but I didnt play disc golf in WI last year so I dont know when it went in last winter, all I know is it was setup by the time I got home from Florida in January.

It's open now because they had to get it in for the tourney yesterday. :hfive:
They got the new back nine in in a day. NICE!

Anyway Winter 18 is open now.

The new back nine was setup only for the tourney it will be taken out today or it was last night. They are not leaving that TEMP course setup. It is still only 9 holes.
