My wife and I are headed for Sarasota for an extended weekend trip in a couple of weeks. This being an anniversary foray, I'm limited to early morning hours on golf as the rest of the day is usually spent doing "couples"-type stuff (she doesn't play).
The two courses I'm looking to play are Lakeview and North Watertower. I need some info regarding each course:
- Any issues with getting into the parks at dawn?
- The water hazards frighten me. How's the water for finding discs?
- Any issues with angry huffers?

Hey guy. I played Water Tower two years ago - it was fun but kind of ghetto with some homeless people (friendly) on the premises. And I remember one hole is bounded by a nasty drainage culvert, but you can easily retrieve your disc from there.
Other notables at that course include some random guy asking me if I knew anyone that wanted to buy a helicopter engine, and there was a lawnmower (it ran) shoved in some palmetto bushes.
The above might sound negative, but rest assured that I will be playing Water Tower when I am in Bradenton at the end of December. I don't remember gates - you could get in early I think.
I am also looking out for these courses and any others nearby:
The Quarry (Brookesville) a long drive but sounds awesome if still in existence
Cliff Sevens (Clearwater)
Coachman (Clearwater)

When will you be there?
The way you ask about the finding discs is funny . . . are you going to find discs or are you going to play some disc golf?
I will be in Tampa January 1-3 and Fort Myers 4-10, and Orlando 11-14. I would maybe be able to meet up with you when I am in Tampa, or maybe even the week in Fort Myers.

The water on Lakeview will gobble your discs 80% or more of the time. It is dark and murky (least once you disturb it) and the banks are very steep, so you disc could be 2-3' down if only 1' from the shore.
I have played both courses very early and had no problems (drove 10 hours from Charlotte NC and stayed over night in Sarasota, played and then picked up the fam from the Fort Myers airport.
I find both courses very enjoyable. Bring a map of Lakeview as a few transitions over the bridges can be tricky first time through.

I've been notified by a local that both gators and water moccasins are in play at Lakeview, so I have that going for me. Maybe I"ll wait a few more minutes for the sun to be up.

I heard a rumor that the Bobby Jones Golf Club has disc golf now. Something about the former Space Coast course's baskets being moved there. Any confirmation of this?
