Those comments go back to what I said earlier about the experience of this fall. If you come here from somewhere else like Scott and I have, you take for granted that people know about glow golf and have done it before. The reality of Rolla is that we have had disc golf for a year and a half. Most of the players here are new. They don't have glow discs, they don't have LED lights, they have never played glow and they really are not sure how it is done or if they they are even going to like it. Getting some casual glow going on will get us past that, so I think it's a good idea.

As far as anything other than semi-organized, that creates a problem of the club not having permission. It really has to be a casual affair with the realistic knowledge that the cops might show up and tell you to get out of the park. The club can't be involved with it.

So I can't advocate playing disc golf in the park after closing, but if I was going to I'd try to get people together on a date close to a full moon. If it is overcast it ends up not mattering, but on a clear night it can help a lot. The next full moon is Saturday, March 19, so that Friday or Saturday could be a target date if I was advocating such a thing, which I'm not. It is between St. Pats and Spring Break, so the UMR guys would be able to make it. Sunset on March 19 is 7:18pm so if you were going to do such I thing you could start at 7:30pm, play one round of 18 at be gone by 9:30pm. Not that I think anyone should.

Of course even if I did want to trespass in the park after dark, I can't be there since I work both Friday and Saturday nights. So all this information is purely hypothetical.

I would love to trespass in leu of you. In fact, I'd say this needs to happen.

You guys are making this too complicated. Once you go glow you will never go back. It is actually easier to find your lit up disc at nite than it is during the day. 5 bucks is not going to break anyone plus is provides 4 a nice little payout to the top 3 to 5 golfers. You do not need glow discs. Just lite them up with those lime green fishing thingys and clear postage tape. Voila, you are now ready for some glow. you lite those baskets now and play. PS a full moon is worse than no moon.

The "green fishing thingys" are the LED lights we were talking about.

It isn't a big deal. People just need to go out and do it and find out how easy and fun it is.

Glow golf fun fact: When the original golf discs were made, all they were was heavy Frisbee molds. Ed Headrick found out that phosphorus worked well as a weighting agent to make heavy discs. It also would glow in the dark, but that was really an accident. The Night Flyers and Midnight Flyers glowed, so people used them to play glow golf. After a cheaper weighting agent was found, the discs no longer glowed. Players were upset by that and begged for glow discs, so Innova, Discraft and Lighting continued to make discs that would glow to meet the demand. By now glow golf is an ingrained part of the game, but it started by accident. If Ed Headrick would have come up with a weighting agent that didn't glow in the dark, we wouldn't have glow golf. Happy accidents.

Nice Scott, I was at my friends the other day and he had one of those Midnight Flyers for some reason. Are they worth anything?
