Like I have said in several places already, evolution is indeed an evidence for God. Let’s assume that things happened as you say (I have no idea how anyone could prove what you say in your examples, but it is a nice speculative theory) so I can thank you for the legwork you have done to give an evidence for God:

You notice that there is an intentional/organizing/nurturing force counteracting the scientific laws of thermodynamics that by definition oppose the progression of evolution (well, at least 2 of the 3 oppose it).

By the way, it takes a lot of faith to believe that randomness can successfully counteract entropy....that randomness can cause order out of disorder caused by energy being inserted into an otherwise "closed system".

Evolution isn't evidence of a god. It's a natural process. The man directed part shows how easy it is to affect change in organisms. Something that the churches have been trying to ridicule for the past 150 years. It's becoming another one of those things that science proves to the point that it starts to become an embarassment for the religious to continue to oppose (like the world isn't flat and it's not the center of the universe) So they start changing their tune and trying to claim the science proves them when they've been denying it all along.

As far as the laws of thermodynamics, you're talking to someone that has studied physics his whole life and I can tell you thermodynamics doesn't in anyway work against evolution. The only thing working against something else is your misunderstanding working against having a meaningful converstaion. The whole thermodynamics argument is just another example of the abysmal ignorance of the anti-evolutionists.

The earth system isn't closed. It's powered by a nuclear fusion reactor 870,000 miles across. The constant energy stream pouring onto the earth from the sun is about 8,000 times more energy at any given time than the amount of energy being used by the whole of earth's human poplulation.

touche' - you got me on that one. I did indeed forget the zeroth law....I guess we spent no time on that one since it is such common sense (if A=B and B=C, then A=C).

I am cross-pollinating threads here, but I am glad to discuss things here with you. I am just not interested in stacking up all Christian viewpoints and claiming them as my own.....that goes for scientific, theological, sociological, political, etc.

I would much rather be embarrassed by my own inadequate understanding and personal shortcomings, than be tagged with everyone else's. I am open to learn and be challenged. Likewise, if my perspectives or life experiences can be helpful to you or any readers that is cool too. I am just much more interested in personal perspectives.

My comment was uncalled for and an unkind response to what I perceived as pretty aggressive potshots you seemed to be taking. I should not have typed that and I feel bad and sorry I did. Plus I do not know what you have a basic understanding of.....as apparently neither do you have of me.

I am unconvinced…….it simply does not pass the smell test. Making order out of disorder takes an organizing force. Random energy getting thrown at the otherwise closed system is NOT an organizing force.

To test this, A) get 5 block cubes, B) toss 4 of them in the air until they all fall on top of each other with all 4 corners aligned, C) when this happens toss the other block into the air and onto the pile, D) if the 5th block misaligns the pile or knocks it over, go back to step A, E) get back to me when you have all 5 in a perfect stack and we can discuss the orders of magnitude of extra complexity to get one solitary living cell. Don’t worry, it will take me as long to figure out my part as it will to get your blocks stacked correctly.

Even though there is nowhere near enough evidence at this time to move evolution passed theory stage, I am very open to it being more completely understood and verified.

This is going to be long. I'm sorry, but there is just no way I can explain this much science in 1500 words or less. I'm making an honest effort to answer, to the best of my ability, and as succintly as I can, the question you have posed.

Here we go....

What you're calling an "organizing force" and implying a deity with, scientists call physics and chemistry. Under physics, there are four fundamental forces:

The strong nuclear force that is the attraction of quarks to one another to form hadrons,(mostly protons and neutrons) and to form atomic nuclei, binding those protons and neutrons together overcoming the natural electromagnetic repulsion of the like charges fo the protons. This force is the strongest force and has the shortest interaction distance.

The weak nuclear force, that has to do with the decay of neutrons into protons and the emission of an electron and electron antineutrino. This is what makes certain elements radioactive among other things.

The electromagnetic force, is what attracts particles of opposite charges like negatively charged electrons into orbitals around the positively charged nuclei and repels objects of like charge. It has no effect on particles without an electric charge and the force carying boson of this is the photon. The energy level of which is what causes the waves of the electromagnetic spectrum. Radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, xrays and gamma rays.

Gravity, by far the weakest organizing force, is the attraction of objects with mass by the warping of space-time. Empty space is not nothingness. It is a fabric so to speak that is warped, compressed and stretched by the presence of mass/energy.

All of this is proven science. We can fuse and split atomic nuclei, manipulate electrons (what makes it possible for you to be in a forum in the first place, electronics) and can directly observe and measure the warping of space and time. Yes, time. GPS is only possible because of our understanding of how mass/gravity and velocity through space in relation to outside observation can cause time to speed up or slow down for an object.

All of this creates atoms, organization from pure chaos. And at the quantum level of subatomics, it is truly chaos. But even still we can describe and predict quantum behavior (A branch of physics known as Quantum Mechanics)to an astounding accuracy on par with predicting the width of North America to within the thickness of a human hair.

On a larger scale, we call the organization of atoms,(elements) into molecules, Chemistry. Electromagnetism is again the binding(organizing) force reponsible. Atoms form bonds when they share the electrons of their outermost orbital( the valence shell) with other atoms. In most cases, atoms combine so they are sharing a total of eight electrons between them. This is what forms a stable bond. Any atom that has less than eight valence electrons is literally itching to react with another atom. (the only exception being hydrogen and helium which only has the lowest energy orbital containing, at max, two electrons) Some reactions occur spontaneously and give off energy sometimes very violently. Some reactions require an input of energy, on earth, that energy can be recieved from other energy producing reactions (exothermic), from heat which is abundant from the molten core of the earth (volcanoes and thermal vents on land and sea) and, primarily, from the sun.

Now, I know this is all long winded and such, but I wanted to try to convey just how well these natural forces are understood. And... It's a slow night at work...

All of this is exactly what is making order and structure and planets and animals and you and me from disorder. This is what is stacking your blocks

The Universe as a whole is not uniform. There are places where there is more energy/less entropy and places of less energy/more entropy. Where there is more energy or in other words, heat(like the sun) ,energy will move from the higher concentration(increasing entropy) to the lower concentration (the earth, now here's the kicker... DECREASING ENTROPY). This is the same thing that happens when you put a cold beer in a warm room. You get a warm beer. Transfer of energy, FIRST law of thermodynamics. The universe as a whole, still expanding and still gaining entropy as per the Second.

Now I figure you're just chomping at the bit to claim that god could be all those forces, but correct me if I'm wrong,(i'm sure you will ) but god is supposed to be the creator of the universe, not the universe itself. And.. we can't just keep going with you claiming every tiny nook of the unknown or unexplained as god. It's a very old ploy that is really just saying that god is nothing more than human ignorance. Which I personally agree with, but I'm rooting for you to do better than that.

And FINALLY....

Let me address the misunderstanding that is prevalent with the non-science adept.

A scientific theory is not a guess. It is a model of how something works. Even if your know everything there is to know about a process, the explanation of that process is still a theory.
You are reading this on a computer. A modern triumph of electonic understanding. Do you think that we as humans don't really know what we're doing with electronics. That all that electronics stuff is just a theory? Well it is. Electronic theory.
