I totally agree that if someone wants to find the truth about God they have to seek Him. If a person refuses to even look for God, no matter what the evidence, then isn't it logical that they'll never find Him?
I'm not buying this thought. He is supposed to be 3-way Omni(present, potent, present). If he wanted us to have doubt about his existence, than when that time came he would let us know. This is one of my biggest issues with god. If I loved my people and wanted what was best for them at whatever level, do I really need them to "worship" me? That sounds a bit controlling and not being in control to me. (Man, I hope I am not sounding mean when I type this stuff.)
But since we're talking about the resurrection of Jesus we're talking about the very foundation of the Christian faith. It was a historical event that many people have died for since the earliest days. It wasn't just a legend.
I personally don't understand how you can say that last sentence without a doubt. I understand you saying you treat it as it is not legend and that this story is real. I get that. But you can't know for sure, just as I can't sit here and say that all those lies happened. I wouldn't begin to say that. I have no way of knowing. All of these things are a guess, a theory, a possibility. There are infinite ways to to guess this one event, but no way to really prove it happened beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I can kick a rock in front of me. (No Matrix jokes allowed here except mine pointing it out.
) Can I be without a shadow of a doubt I kicked it? Hmmm? I saw it, felt it, heard it. But could I have hallucinated any of it from something I ate or drank, or dreamt it? AH! But I can reproduce it. I can do it over and over, until I am sure, yep I kicked it.
Even when we know something, we should be questioning it. Maybe he faked his death and somehow drugged everyone. We have seen things like this happen in todays time, there is no reason he could have not done the same. Performance magic is alive and well today. (Thanks Penn and Teller) BTW, I just threw the drug and magic thing in there as another possibility. We could do that forever. If one alternative could have happened, it is just as likely an option has the one you believe happened in my point.
Every relationship with a person requires a step of faith and trust and it requires commitment. A relationship with God is no different.
Olorin, I think you would recant this statement.
I can see the non-verbal reactions to everything I do with another person, I can hear inflection and reaction to things said. No way is it even close. It is a step of faith, but not really blind faith like it is with god.
(My vote for best contribution and contributor to this group thus far. THANKS!)
