Um…..”Your ‘answering’ passages” were not mine. They are simply the ones you listed in your post (I did expand the references a little in what I linked to capture more context than what you listed). I just pointed out that what those very passages are saying is not something horrific like you were saying. Rather, they were instructions and guidance on how to operate kindly and lovingly towards the conquered – in stark contrast to how surrounding culture operated.

You obviously did not read the passages (and I made it very easy by linking to all of them), as it is not talking about "other Hebrew slaves". Re-read this and you will see that you have it completely backwards.

Um…..how about Jesus’ “love your neighbor as yourself”? When asked “who is your neighbor?”, he told the famous story of the good Samaritan. He put it back in the Jews’ face (especially the religious elite) that racial, ethnic, and national hatred had no place in an economy of love.

I mentioned the second part of this (the good Samaritan part) as it is directly applicable to what we have seen in this country in a very sad part of our history, and the circumstances people entered into slavery back in the time that the passage in question was written.

Now, while this is not an explicit commandment “thou shalt not treat humans as property”, it is crystal clear to anyone paying attention that that would not be “loving your neighbor as yourself”.

Heathen - would you agree that wherever you are getting your lists of scriptures, whoever compiled them has not done their homework?

I am guessing that whoever did compile the list is really not very interested in a scientifically accurate methodology since they are so very far from being accurate.

Many are not aware of the difference between Judaism and Christianity either.

All I know is that the new testament (NT) states that everything in the old testament (OT) is true. And if this is a NT kind of thing, why isn't the Newer NT's of the mormons not the more correct stuff?

Judaism believes the OT, and waits for the messiah.

Christianity believes Jesus is the Messiah.

OK, thanks for explaining that. But are you not both waiting for the return of a messiah? Does it really matter if Jesus was one or not?

What about Allah, Ra, Zeus, and the other gods that people believe in? How can your religion and your book be the only one true religion and book, while everyone else be wrong? If this were true, your god is going to send tons more people to hell rather than to heaven. That does not sound very loving to me.

You know about God and are purposely rejecting God. So what about the people now, that concerns me.

How did Job know, since he lived before Moses?
Why is it on every continent, there is some form or belief in some form of God?

I am saying all roads lead to the savior, and who you believe that savior to be has caused debates since the beginning.

Still, how do you know? I answer how do you know you exist? Find yourself, and you will find God.

If Job was real, he was tortured by god and the devil. That poor guy. People have changed what a god is since recorded history. We as humans fear what we do not know. So instead of accepting we don't know, they put a face on it and call it whatever they want. Now they think that is comfort, because they no longer need to fear it. I call that lazy and delirious. Why not just try and figure it out or except not knowing.

I do not know if there is a god or not. And no matter what you say, you can't know 100% for sure either. I am not about to take other peoples word for something or worship something without knowing it is real. What I believe in would have been determined by where I was born or raised. I stepped away from all of that and decided to think for myself and learn what I can about life "as we know it". I say that, because this is the only life we really know of for sure. I exist because this is the only life I can know for sure, as I am living it. Could it be a matrix? You bet, but until I am proven there is a matrix, this is still the only life I know of. No afterlife, no ghosts, no hell, no gods, just breathing here on this planet and anywhere else we can go from here. This is as real as it gets, until something else comes along to show us otherwise.
