What's going on?
Any news on work days at Lions Club? Did anybody play the Ozark Mountain tournament? Is anybody going to sign up for league?
I feel like Pink Floyd. Is there anybody out there?
Cooktastic and I did sign up as a team...
Haven't heard about any upcoming work days at LC
Glad I didn't play in the Ozark tourney...the weather was MISERABLE. I did go out and play a couple days after the tourney. Played Akitas and Ozark...I love those courses.
I will check about work days tomorrow. I know that there is going to be a putting challenge around April 23rd at University Book and Supply during the evening...CASH prizes =)
Cool. Too bad I can't putt.
has anyone else gotten in the league yet Scott?
How does one go about playing Ozark Mountain/Akita?
I know where it is, I have a map of the courses, but I know its private property.
I have tried to e-mail gatewaydisc (dave) but i never get a reply.
With spring growth it may not be playable very much longer.
Also, I heard that baskets will be installed at Lions during the next workday, anyone know when the next workday is? They removed the port-o-pisser so i assume its not this weekend 12/17
Really looking forward to it; i've been "playing" the course since it was flagged this winter.
Lastly, how are the creeks played at Ber Juan (hole #1, #7, #8)...are they out of bounds so you have to take a stroke to get out, can you play from the creek if you feel like standing there, whats the course rule?
The best way to do it is to e-mail dave---which it appears you have already done. Otherwise, I would just go out there and play. TAKE A COURSE MAP AND SCORECARD--it will tremendously help you out there. Ozark is blue and Akitas is orange.
Where did you hear about the baskets going in next time? The course is gonna be awesome!
The creeks at Ber Juan are typical water hazard rules. If the disc is not touching any part of the bank than it is considered ob and you must take a penalty stroke (whether you can physically play it or not. After the stroke is assessed you can choose to play it where it is at or where it entered the hazard (at your discretion).
Do you live in Rolla? Are you a student or a local?
Thanks for the OB clarifications for Ber Juan....i've been getting birdies on 7 from the creek
, no more i guess.
At the end of the last workday i was out playing Lions Club and there was a guy there still working and monitoring the burning, we chatted it up a bit, he said next work day = baskets, then future work days for tee boxes and signage, etc. Said it would be done in 3 or 4 more workdays.
He also said eventually there will be multiple basket placements and tee boxes on some of the holes for variety during multiple round tournaments.
i'm alum, now i work and live in town.
So you are saying if I go play Ozark/Akita, there will not be a guy there with a shot gun suggesting I get off his land directly or suffer? I'd feel better about it with permission i think.
The guy that lives out there is pretty cool...although I almost never see him. It's up to you, but if you wait much longer it won't be playable till the tourney in the fall.
You should be playing in the doubles league at Ber Juan man...we need as many locals as possible to build up our club. So glad to hear there are others in town that will be here for the long haul=)
Thanks for the info on LC--can't wait for the baskets to go up.
I think Dave from Gatewaydisc was down at Lions Club this Sunday 4/25 and set the final tee box and pin locations. I had been anxiously waiting to find out where 14 tee box was going to be as I've watched the course develop; its a very interesting hole with a greater than 90 degree dogleg after a long straight drive. A few of the holes have A and B pin locations. I suspect they will be moving forward with basket installation fairly soon. I can't wait.
That's awesome news dude...can't wait either. It is gonna be sweet. Are they mostly done with clearing out the brush?
