It doesn't have a name yet. I like the disc a lot. It's faster than a Wasp. To me it is a disc that you have to throw hard. You can get some nice long straight shots with some surprising glide out of it when you put some pop behind it, but when you power down and try a finesse throw it is meathook city. It has a lot of low speed fade. It's really good into the wind and good on a low line. It reminds me of the old Sentinels in a lot of ways. I used to carry Sentinels to compliment my Rocs. I used the Sentinels as my mid for low ceiling shots, shots where I had to finish left (RHBH) and shots into the wind. I could see using this disc like that.
It likes short # 7. We are playing the regular short tee on that hole once, and I predict aces from there.
Pretty much the extent of my meager map making skills:
Sounds like a disc I will put in my regular rotation...
The map looks great. Nice work Scott.
Well, I forgot that when it printed in black & white the red and blue arrows would look the same.
I changed one of them to dashed line for the map to hand out, but you should still be able to get the jist.
Navigation is the worst part of this event since nobody knows where the tees are. The tees will have flags that say "DISCRAFT" on them and the tees have "AR" painted next to them. I'll probably put some sort of mark like "1/1" that would stand for hole 1/1st round, something like that to help you make sure you are in the right spot.
The course is marked and flagged. All of the Ace Race tees have a Discraft flag with "AR" written to the left of the tee and a "tee/round" mark on the right (i.e. the tee for # 2 we are using for the third round has a "2/3" to the right of it) plus I have maps so it should all flow OK.
We got to 30 registered; 28 players (I bought a package and Noah got Michigan/Notre Dame tickets but still wanted the discs) so I was pleased with the turnout. Steven Naji won, Sean Berg was second. Those were the only Aces on the day.
If I would have thought of it we would have CTP'ed for the banner while I was adding up scores to give people a reason to hang around at the end. Oh well, there is always next year.
If you guys follow this link and scroll down the page on the right-hand side there is a place to give feedback to Discraft about the disc.
Feel free to chew their ass about all the 158g green discs they sent us.
Sorry Scott but I thanked them for the 161 that I got but I am kind of a wussy arm! I did let them know that the color was little "off".
