2 meter rule? I say yes but how about everyone else.
Group name? I like the play on words but I think something more generic may be better for group growth. Don't feel slighted I suggested this, I did the same thing to 512 disc golfers.
Sponsoring players for tourneys: I think it serves dual purposes. Players in our group benefit from playing in our group meets. Better performers get free/discounted tourney entries. We get the won plastic. People hear about our group when player hands out cards or wears shirt. Etc.
Twitter: I think that is a great way to send messages for meetups or random rounds.
Are we doing bag tags?
Do we want to set this up as a league instead? Or do both?
Another thing I've always wanted to do is a charity event, with livestrong and/or sims benefit and do a disc golfathon. Where you start Friday night with a band and a night round and have people sponsor players by hole for the whole weekend. Have lighted holes saturday night. Sunday eve present estimate of total raised $ and have a concert. Sell shirts and discs and proceeds go to charity.
It would be a lot of work but a great way to get known, help people and play a **** ton of disc!!! Lol
I think that the 2 meter rule should be decided based on the course.
Group name was kind just suggested till we come up with something better. I liked it though. Fyi I have to delete this whole group in order to change the name. I guess I could get timg to do it.
I am going to draft stuff on tags just haven't gotten to it yet.
I like the idea of charity events and stuff great publicity. But before we jump into that we need to make sure we can run a club.
How much more generic can it get I mean Sin tex disc golf club, its not any worse than South Austin Ducks disc golf club, Double R dgc, earlybirds dgc. the misfit part is more of a mascot thing like the ducks.
Before we jump to sponsorships growth must occur.
I don't like the 2 meter rule. It's based too much on luck. Two people's disc could hit the same tree, but because of luck, one plinkos to the ground and the other gets stuck. How is it fair to assess a penalty based off a random factor of luck?
Dont throw it into the tree? 2 meter adds another challenge more mental than anything, I personally hate the rule. It is fun to throw it in once in a while though.
Let's not be snide shall we? I'm not talking about myself throwing into trees. I'm talking about fairness of play. Everyone hits a tree from time to time and most do not get stuck, but on the random chance that it does get stuck, why should that person be penalized and not the other person that hit the tree? The rule just doesn't make sense to me. I would hate to win a round based on my opponent getting a penalty for being stuck 2.1 meters high in a tree.
