^^I totally agree with you! Those people have perverted Christianity. In my 35 years of knowing Christ I've never heard of such behavior from "true" followers of Jesus.

This is off-topic I guess, but we are not all that far from the Westboro Baptist Church and there is a "church" here that has taken on some of those tactics. During a Christmas parade they walked down the parade route and one of the guys wore a big sandwich board that said "God Hates" in big letters at the top and then had a list: Homosexuals, Feminists, Yada, Yada, Yada. It seems to me that anybody whose main message deals with what God hates has missed the point. Badly.

Around here there are a lot of those fringe groups that wrap themselves in gospel as an excuse to hate. If there is one thing I'd criticize "mainstream" Christians for is not speaking out against this type of behavior in the name of God. There seems to be no tolerance for me and my family, but crazy whack-job fundamentalist hate-mongers get treated with kid gloves. That bothers me.

OMG! That sucks. Phruk Phelps! I bet you can't wait to see Red State. The film based (kind of) on them from Kevin Smith. Releases in OCT. BTW, at least 2 of the kids got out on their own and left that mess.
