I'm not sure how long ago this happened, but the big tree that made the old hole #3 more than a straight "throw at it" shot is gone. It was damaged in the wind storm over the summer and I guess the City took it down. It may have been gone for several weeks; I just noticed it today because I had a crappy drive that hyzerd out followed by a crappy approach that hyzerd out and ended up there where it used to be. It does have some effect on new # 3 (opens up the long putt from up the hill quite a bit) but it doesn't destroy the shot like it would if we still had old # 3.
There was another badly damaged tree down by #7, but I forgot to check and see if it was taken down. Both of the trees were far enough off to the side of the regular route that I really don't notice them unless I mess up my shot and end up over there.
I went out and painted and flagged the tees today. In a few weeks the ground is going to be too frozen to put out flags, so try not to pull up the flags if you are out there. It hasn't been much of an issue; most of the flags have stayed up recently.
