FYI: There is some dead area around Lambert Airport in St. Louis that used to be neighborhoods in Bridgeton. My sister used to teach in Carrollton Elementary School; it was closed down when the airport expanded in the late 90's and the whole neighborhood was leveled. That area now is being developed into a park and it looks like they have given the green light to a 27-hole disc golf course there. River City Flyers are having a fundraiser on March 6 to raise $$$ for baskets. Of course I already traded shifts with a guy for that day, so I can't play. I encourage anybody who can play to get a roadtrip together to support this.

So this fundraiser will be on a 27, 18, or 9 unique hole layout?

I assume a 27 hole layout since it says "1 round of 27 holes".

The course is going to be 27 holes. St. Louis has been trying to get a larger course for some time. They have to cap some events at 90 (5 players per hole) that would draw more people, and the Club Championships there are a mess with all the people they have. So this new course is going to be one 27-hole course.

The Nooner is going to be played on the proposed course layout with temp baskets. I work with a guy that is a huge Lady Miners freak and told him I'd cover that weekend so he could go to the Great Lakes conference tournament; otherwise I'd be there.

That's a weird thing to be.

So, a cautionary tale...the River City Flyers had a pretty solid "go" on this. It seemed like everything was worked out, they were just waiting to see the status of some grant money but the grant wasn't a "make it or break it" deal so this course was 100% going to go. Well, the course design they have been playing was a Mollenbeck/Finland design. Dave McCormack went over to the site and came up with another design. So it seems that Dave and the Club President went to Bridgeton with this second course design behind everyone's back, which started a flurry of backstabbing and name calling on both sides. Of course much of this happened in a series of emails to Bridgeton people where the two sides bad mouthed each other. The City people finally had enough and now has thrown RCF out and told them to get their act together. They don't want to hear back from RCF until they have one plan everybody is behind. That might be a trick, because the RCF meetings have dissolved into screaming cussing fiasco's. So the whole project is in serious jeopardy.

In the middle of all this, they have a Supertour event to pull off in a couple of weeks. It's a huge mess.

That's how St. Louis disc golf always was when I lived there. No unity, and lot of people bad-mouthing you behind your back if you tried to do anything. They are a perfect example of how not to run a disc golf club.
