I thought it would be nice to have a place for comments on our regions courses.

I played Old Economy for the first time last week and I have to say I was pretty dissapointed. I had heard that it was a pretty decent 9 holer and I have meaning to get in a round on it for quite a while. I did not enjoy it at all. Not counting that a basket is missing due to sledding. The first three holes are pretty much the most boring holes I have ever played and the rest were just kind of blah. I think #4 was the only hole that was decent since you have to throw a little tunnel shot or a big hyzer. The rough on 5 - 9 is downright scary and why would the course end so far from the parking lot??

I am happy to hear that a redesign might be happening with the idea of making it an 18-holer but I have to say that I am not sure I will support the expansion of the course unless the existing 9 is dramatically changed.

Go a little further west and take in 2 Mile Run. Only played it once, but it's a solid 9 holer with plenty of challenge.

I do dig 2MX. For a nine holer it is solid. I wish it wasn't so far out of the way though because if it was closer to the city I think it would get alot of play.

I totally agree that 2MX is TOO far away. No matter which way I go it's 40 - 45 minutes. I'll drive the 35 minutes to Moraine before I decide to go there. It's a great course though. Holes 4 & 6 are BEASTS!!! 2 of the best holes I've played!

Some pretty exciting news for disc golf in our region! We have two new courses nearing completion!

The first is the new 18 hole course in Grove City/Oil City area. This is a course designed by David McCormack, who is the owner of Gateway Disc Sports(World famous putters!), and is well known for designing very challenging courses all over the country. Dave Muchinko was nice enough to get us an update from Dave off of Facebook that says the course should be completed by July 1st.

A second 18 hole course is going in at California University of Pennsylvania. I am not sure at what stage the construction is but Allinflop has heard through the grapevine that baskets are in! I have not had a chance to look into this but I am excited since this will be the first course south of Pittsburgh! As a bonus I have also been told that world famous course desinger John Houck will be designing a course in Youngstown Ohio (just up the turnpike )! This will be a Disc Golf course on an already established Ball Golf course. I did not get too much information on this so I will keep my ears open.

Welcome, new disc golf courses! Considering that the PFDS has put in two DGCR Top 20 courses in recent memory, it seems sort of silly to bring in outside designers, especially since so much of Deer Lakes' and Moraine's success is due to good long-term relationships between the local club and the park. But, then again, considering the current course-related demands on people's time in Pittsburgh, I'm not complaining if nationally-known course designers want to come in and install courses The more the merrier!

My last statement was incorrect. The Dave Macormack course will be in Oil City and should be open on July first and a whole separate course is going in at Grove City!!!! That makes 4 courses going in right now in our region!!!!!

I have heard there is another course in the works much closer to Pittsburgh. 15 minutes from Dahn-Tahn.

Hey just a heads up, The disc golf course at California Univeristy of PA is about 80% complete. All 18 holes are in with nice Mach III's. There is going to be two tee postions, AM and a Pro tee's. The only thing left to do is install the tee pads (rubber fly pads), and tee signs. If anyone is willing to come down and help out or give some advice we are open to remarks. The rest of the course sould be finished in the fall.
