Summer Ber Juan League
When the spring league ends, we start all over again:
We are going to try 10 weeks this summer. We started the spring league early and had a lot of extra weeks to work with, so why not throw?
Bump! This starts Tuesday.
We are going to change to two drop weeks. If you are a S & T student, you can show for the first time on June 7th due to the drop weeks and taking Memorial Day week off. June 7th is after summer classes start. You will be out of drop weeks, but otherwise it's all good. If you are in contention at the end, all you have to do is hang out until the Tuesday after summer classes are over to finish the league. So that fixes the S & T problem and gives people more weeks to miss if the summer gets crazy. Play golf.

General Competition Rules for Organized Events
All Ber Juan singles events will be played using PDGA rules. Any exceptions to those rules will be outlined in the players meeting prior to the event. The rules of disc golf can be found online at:
Rulings will be decided by group decision. If the group cannot reach a decision, the effected player or team should declare provisional throws and complete the hole using both lies. The Tournament Director will determine which score should stand at the completion of the round.
Doubles events using Best Shot rules will be played using the following:
• Both players throw from each lie (starting with the tee shot), then the team chooses which of the resulting lies to continue play from, until the hole is completed.
• Players who do not have a partner can play using California (Cali) rules. That player can take one additional shot during each hole.
League winners are determined using the best seven out of eight scores in an eight week league or best eight out of ten scores in a ten week league Scores that are not used are considered “drop weeks.”
If a team does not appear for a scheduled league night, they will receive a score of 90.
If one members of a team cannot make a scheduled league, one member of the team can play “Cali” rules or a substitute can be used for the missing player. If both players cannot make a scheduled league night, the team will receive a score of 90.
All Ber Juan events are restricted to PDGA legal discs only. A list of approved disc can be found online at

Just a reminder, you can sign up this Tuesday and still get in. You just have to make sure you are there for the rest of the league since you will be out of drop weeks.
This is just something to be aware of, but we need some chuckers in the league. Todd and I won the B Flight last summer with a 404. This spring that would have put us next to last in the B Flight. Paul and I shot a 427 in the spring and were buried 50 shots behind and 28 shots in last. Last spring a 427 would have been second. We pretty quickly went for needing to shoot around a 60 to hang in the B Flight to needing a 55 to hang in B Flight. We need that group of guys shooting 60's out there. We have lost that. When you guys see the one disc wonders out there, talk this sucker up. We will limp through the summer with 5 teams, but we need to crank this up before fall.
Part of that is that everybody goes out to Lion's Club all the time now, so there is nobody at Ber Juan to talk to the one disc wonders. There is no real fix for that. Just remember sometimes that Ber Juan is a pretty solid course. It's very underrated as far as the design goes. It also has very little poison ivy, few ticks and not very many cicadas. Plus I get lonely out there. I have the number 2 tag, ready for the taking. All somebody has to do is be willing to put on some sunscreen and play Ber Juan.
There will only be one flight, there is not enough teams to split.

There are still six guys showing up as not paid. I'm assuming you know who you are. Get in and get paid before I have to be a jerk about it, please.
