Simple question and hopefully a good discussion topic: Are the ability to forgive and to be humble directly proportional to a person’s morality?

Dave, I appreciate your zeal, but please. I don't know how to approach many of your questions, as you present such complex questions without any sort of definitions, or nailing down even the simplest of terms relevent to the proprosed topic.

That said, from what I gather you mean, no. Maybe in some small part of a larger whole. Morality extends farther than just the issues of forgiveness and personal humility. Like you said, simple.

Maybe this group would work best as more of a focused discussion group than an open free for all?

What do you guys think, maybe we can have a moderator(s), submit topics for discussion, etc. ?

That way it doesn't devolve to meaningless circles of sniping and, literally, nonsense.

I can't agree more about the meaningless circles, the sniping, and the nonsense. That's one reason why I don't post here much.

I also want to tell y'all that I just don't have time any more to post here either. I have some crucial family priorities that I need to attend to. It's way more important to me to live out my faith by making my wife and family my priority than it is to post here. I'm sure that some may construe my lack of responses to mean that there are no answers or responses to the issues being raised by the A/As. Well, so be it. Let me assure you again that there have been a ton of misleading and misinformed statements made about the Bible and Christian belief. From what I know the science has been pretty accurate, though, as I expect it would be. If you really are looking for answers then it's all available on the internet or in books. I just haven't really seen any evidence that any one on here really wants to consider a different perspective.

A good idea that might lead to a more productive discussion, but I don't really see it happening. How would you focus it more? If I could make you an Owner/Moderator here then I would. (That was my original intention, but I can't see how to do it.)

You could start a google group if you want, though. That might work.

BTW, I appreciate your desire for productive discussion. I consider you to be one of the most reasonable and open minded people on here.

I can certainly understand that my style is not everyones' style. But, I would much prefer people talking (and people listening) about how they personally define relevant words and concepts and how they apply them in their lives rather than talking about things that none of us are not directly involved in.....such as medieval atrocities, biblical authorship, evolution, creation, etc.

For me and from what I have observed here we are all a bunch of hacks compared with the great minds and great efforts that have rehashed this stuff ad nauseum already. One is better served reading up outside here if one is really interested in learning.

I prefer learning how my disc golfing friends navigate issues of reality, faith, reason, morality, etc...... This is really where the rubber meets the road.

To me, open ended questions (rather than yes/no or ones with right/wrong answers) are a great way to start dialog.

Of course, this is my opinion and my preference......and other's mileage may vary.

Very interesting. For those who view Christianity as a religion defined by a moral code Lewis' statement will make their head spin.....if they allow themselves to really think deeply about it.

CS Lewis almost always wrote with xtian overtones.
