I can certainly understand that my style is not everyones' style. But, I would much prefer people talking (and people listening) about how they personally define relevant words and concepts and how they apply them in their lives rather than talking about things that none of us are not directly involved in.....such as medieval atrocities, biblical authorship, evolution, creation, etc.
For me and from what I have observed here we are all a bunch of hacks compared with the great minds and great efforts that have rehashed this stuff ad nauseum already. One is better served reading up outside here if one is really interested in learning.
I prefer learning how my disc golfing friends navigate issues of reality, faith, reason, morality, etc...... This is really where the rubber meets the road.
To me, open ended questions (rather than yes/no or ones with right/wrong answers) are a great way to start dialog.
Of course, this is my opinion and my preference......and other's mileage may vary.
