If you're going to be in Newport, then LaMa is a definite yes. There are two 18-hole courses there so you can definitely scratch your itch.
Eldo is pretty flat and characterless (no signature holes of any kind, no significant challenges unless you play #12 in the long). I'd suggest
Huntington as an alternate - it's closer and a bit more varied.
If you want to drive an hour or so though, I'd even pass on Huntington in favor of
Sylmar, which is probably the best course in the LA basin, or
Chavez, which is short, technical, a bit closer and features some really hellacious risk/reward shots.
