Hey Everyone,
I totally agree that Bill did generally have all of those negative qualities associated with homeless people, but I think he was just as much a part of the Oak Grove community as anyone else.
It is very sad when anyone departs this little blue planet of ours, but what is even more sad is that Bill will a representation of the glaring deficiencies in our system of help for the mentally disabled. I sincerely hope that one day, we will see every people who direly needs help, as Bill did, receive it.
Here is the only article of any kind that I was able to find about Bill's passing online: http://lacanadaflintridge.patch.com/articles/wild-bill-found-dead-in-park-bushes-wednesday
If you had just read this article, you will see that it does not, in any way, encapsulate how much a part of the Oak Grove community he was. So, with that in mind, the So Cal Disc Golf Meetup is having it's first Annual "Wild Bill" Memorial Game. The plan is: we meet at 11am for a round, and when we hit the back, where Bill had lived for so long, we stop, have a drink, and tell stories of our experiences with Bill, and commiserate over his passing. Everyone is welcome to come along as well.
Here's a link to the posting for this event from the group's meetup page: http://www.meetup.com/socaldisc/events/35844062/
Sadly, this may be the closest thing Bill ever gets to proper services, so please come out and join us to ensure that it's a good one.
