I just took up disc golf and have been going to the course at Nelson Park, Decatur, IL. I was surprised by the number of people using the course, so I decided to check the web to see if there was a local group. As far as I can tell, Decatur does not have one. I thought it would be nice to organize these players into a coherent group.

So, I am proposing the creation of a Decatur Disc Golf Meetup group. If you are unfamiliar with Meetup, it's a group creation site that has a pretty slick layout for creating events, getting RSVPs, postings pics, forums, etc. The site costs money, but the tools are good and they get you listed high on search engines. I happen to already be a co-organizer of another local group, so the fees are already being paid (each account can have 3 Meetup groups).

So my question is: is there interest in this? Should it encompass all of Central Illinois rather than just Decatur? Thoughts? Concerns?

I know their is a Sunday League there I don't know what time but the guys from Springfield Disc Golf Club will go their and play. It is organized enough to have bag tags that they compete for low number tag! Do a search on Springfield Disc Golf Club, get on their site and see if they can get you hooked up with them! I am sure they would love the publicity and to add more players.
