I'm not sure which thread you're referring to, but as far as the Nike bag, no, I dont use any support in those.
The bag has cording in the sidewalls, which allows it to stand upright on its own.
I tried using the divider from an Innova Comp. bag in the Nike, but I hated the extra weight, so the discs are loose in the main compartment.
Same reason why I'm still using the Nike, and not the Comp bag, the Innova bag weighs too much.
Disc golf bag manufacturers dont care about weight, because they figure if it gets too heavy you'll just gets quads for it.
I'm a minimalist backpacker, and I know its easier to play 100 holes of disc golf in a day if I dont have to lug around a brick.
I keep my soda bottle on one end, then my disc towel, then the discs, so they stand up a little.
I have no trouble finding what disc I want, but I never carry more than 15 discs in the main compartment, so its not too confusing.
I still carry both putters separately in the mesh pocket on one end.
