5/19/10 - Hole of the Day
Tom Bass Regional Park - Wilmont, (Houston) TX
Hole 5 - 500 ft http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course...1/3d81cd08.jpg Course Map: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course...1/1f186f6e.jpg If I'm seeing it correctly, there are a few trees in the first part of the fairway, an opening, and them some more trees closer to the basket. I'm thinking a Roc or DX Teebird from the tee to get through the first section to the open area (depending on how close/far I need to be from the next set of trees.) Looks like the RHBH hyzer route is blocked well. |
I was thinking hyzer-flip a PD through the hyzer route around the trees that are "blocking" the route. Should be able to clear them, at least it seems. Maybe not, though...
|
I'm throwing my ever popular 150 dx wraith with a slight amount of hyzer with as much f'ing snap as I can muster...I'll probably get out there about 380' and then toss a buzzz or wasp depending on the up.

Hopefully Wraith, Wizard, Wizard for me.

One question to really ask: Are we playing the hole as it's shown in the main picture and using the others to help us see it? It looks fairly open, because there are no leaves on the trees. It could look really tight in the summer. It's much easier for a shot the "get through" as it's shown. |
From the first picture, looks like the trees are spuratic and I like that gap just to the right of the trees dead ahead.
Right now, it would be a fresh DX Teebird through that right gap which being fresh, should fade back in the middle getting me about 300' down on the other side of those center trees I think. That gives me 200' to go with the ION which there is a chance with that disc in that range, but more than likely, I'm 20' off and way over putt then miss the next putt so Im in in 5. |
I'd probably try to flip a Star Valk and then get close with a Z Buzzz.

SOLF, wizard.

LHBH
I'd likely throw an Xl straight down the middle to be safe, making sure my drive is clean should leave me wide open for a buzzz or wasp less than 200 to the pin, hopefully a tap in 3 (birdie?). I might also try to be more agressive throwing a Avenger SS hyzer flip, which would need more height and be more likely to hit a tree. in that case i'm either having a shorter approach for a 3, or struggling for par. |
