Anti-Roll away Putter
 

So there are a couple holes at my local course that putt downhill, and 9 times out of 10 I can't seem to prevent a roll away from a distance. I prefer to putt with a Magnet, and was going to pick up a Soft Magnet for these kinds of approaches.

Can anyone with experience with the Soft Magnet tell me about its floppiness, for lack of a better term? I want something that will just die when it hits the ground. If the Soft is just tackier in terms of grip, can someone suggest a putter that is floppy that also feels like a Magnet?

Soft magnets can be pretty floppy, especially when they heat up in the summer sun. There is no special putter required though. Try putting so that you're disc will land flat if you miss. On downhill putts, that generally means putting with some anhyzer. Switching to the floppiest putter ever will just mean you're putting with a ****ty putter.

Floppiness doesn't always prevent rolls, in fact sometimes the softer putters seem more likely to bounce and catch an edge.

Thanks for the tip. I end up throwing my longer putts with some hyzer, so I will try putting a little anny on them instead to see if that helps.

lay up if you are that worried about roll aways

Blowfly, very slim chance of a roll away. It's for the situation above. A shot that you normally would lay up on but now you get a free shot.

Blowfly or Gumbputt would definitely help, but I've seen my buddy roll his a few times so it's not roll-impervious. The soft magnet was my putter of choice for over a year until I lost the perfectly beat one I had. It was a good disc but not really "floppy".

I've found this to be true as well. I had high hopes for the Blowfly for this purpose until experience proved them wrong. As far as putters that hit metal and then stick I don't think there's any magic formula. For laying up near a pin on a serious grade I use an Aero as i believe it has the highest likelihood of landing flat. As Josh mentioned, this is key to avoid catching and edge and avoid an unplanned trip down the hill.

I was thinking about a Blowfly. Does it really just fold up like one of those old funky floppers I used to throw as a kid? I don't remember who made them, but they were cool...

I've got an idea. If you putt it in the basket then that = no roll aways!
