NW Arkansas - Christmas week
 

I'll be visiting family in Fayetteville and Rogers, AR over Christmas.

I've done my research and know the nearby courses I'm going to play.

Just wondering if there are any events going on for that week. Would also like to meet up with local DGCR members just to play a few rounds. Are there any "must play" courses a little further out that I should try and hit?

First time ever to Arkansas so I don't know what to expect.

How far are you willing to travel? Horseshoe Canyon is not too far and worth the play if you like rugged adventure courses (rough tee pads, navigation hiccups, the front 9 is great, the back 9 has a couple nice holes). Alma might be a bit of an easier drive and is worth it, quite unique with huge open shots over cliffs (RHBH hyzer or die), a top of the world shot, and a nice technical back 9.

I was looking at Alma, that is a reasonable drive.

I was also looking at Branson Cedars Resort. Mileage-wise it's a little bit closer but the road to Alma looks straight and fast.

Cedars is cool, some fun, unique, elevation shots. Unique greens (artificial ball golf turf), nice ponds, a few wooded holes. I'd recommend it about to the same degree I recommend Alma. They both have very cool open/elevation shots, and nice wooded holes. Whichever is most convenient, you'll have a good time.
