Switching to lighter putter when putting outside the cirle?

I use a 175 Anode putter. I push putt up to about 60-75 feet out. I've been thinking about getting a 169-170 anode for when i get so far out (40-75 feet) thinking I could get more distance with a lighter putter.

Does anyone else switch to a lighter putter when putting from longer distances?

I do sometimes, but I think it's more mental than anything.

A couple grams shouldn't make a difference. But if it feels good, do it. It shouldn't hurt anything.

I do. I normally putt with a 175g eraser wizard, but I switch to a 165g aviar when I'm out around 50 ft or more. The extra glide with the aviar is very noticeable, to me anyway. I'm also switching to a different putter that inherently has more glide as well, but I'd imagine the 10g drop helps too.

I change. Normally i put with rhynos (175) in the circle and then i switch to discmania p1 (150) out of the circle. They both are pretty beat up and P1 is pretty understable its pretty easy to get close to basket with my unique putting style

No. I just carry a straight putter and an overstable one. What's between me and the basket determines the disc more than the distance does...

If you're not set on the exact putter(s) you're using now, you can try a different mold with less HSS. It will glide further than a more overstable putter and you can still use max or close to max weight to help with control in the wind. If you're all ready set on your putter mold, check this out: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums...putter+weights

^^^ (sorry, always wanted to honor Pre... I think there needs to be dgcr prerube shirts like Prefontaine)

Btw, I use max weight KC aviars and max pro D magnets. Once the magnets get beat up a little they love to just turn right and glide forever, but at max weight, don't get tossed around too much in 20+ mph winds.

I use a 165g Wizard for almost all putting. I find I get a few free feet of "gimme" distance with no down side.
