I mount mine on the bottom. The only problem with visibility I've noticed is that if the disc annies at all, you lose it in flight for a short period of time. Of coure it is still pretty easy to find.

I was out again messing around on this hole today. What I found worked well was a spike hyzer off the tee. You need to get over the canopy for the hyzer to the landing zone. Otherwise a straight shot...
