if I use detergent or shaving cream I usually let it sit at least 8 hours. Maybe a little less if it's on star plastic. A lot more if it's on champ. If I'm doing a hot dip I go 5 minutes at a time...

I've heard of that happening every so often with idye. Seems they occasionally mislabel a stock dye as poly. Probably the third time I've heard of this.

To paint with detergent you need to give it lots of time 8-24 hours or more depending on plastic type. Also speeds the process if you can keep the dye moist.

You can definitely dye yellow over red. I've done it a lot. Adjust your time to get the shade you want. Don't go by any hard and fast rule of time. Dye it, check it. put it back in if you want it...
