2 meter response - make it a hole design decision for designers

In general, I agree that the 2 meter rule is arbitrary and capricious and involves far, far more luck than skill. In 98% of all cases, it should be eliminated. HOWEVER, I think there are places where...

Hawk Hollow Open - tourney report

I posted up some details on our local board, but wanted to share a tourney report here as well, for those who are interested:

The other day I was practicing putting and found that it actually helped my practice to close my eyes. I'd set my stance, line up the putt, then close my eyes and THEN putt to where I could envision...

I think I would actually prefer a system that was numeric on the backend, but had a frontend rating system visible to users that gave courses an A - F rating system, with pluses and minuses, of...

It all depends on what mindset you are in and what group you are with. My roommate and I in college would play two scores on each hole, two different sets of throws, so we could get in twice as many...

I'd recommend Turner Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/reviews.php?id=3596&page=3&mode=rev#20406) -- it's got the highest "fun" factor of any of the courses on that list IMHO, and it's going to be...

I think it is definitely worth joining at least once. Your first year, you get more benefits (The disc, for instance), and once you have a number in the PDGA system, you have that number for life....

First run were Z plastic and had this awesome, ghost stamp of the close up roaring mouth of a lion/tiger/some-big-predator on the front. I've still got one somewhere that's never been thrown that I...

I agree that Blue Ribbon Pines is way, way overrated. It's nice for the area, and has a great vibe from the locals, but is way, way, way out of its league on a national scale. I was incredibly...

Best Forehand Open Player in the Sport

I've played with Bennett and Koling and I'd happily play either of them shot for shot forehand anywhere... though they can both putt circles around me, and it shows in the scores.

I've also seen...

It's funny to hear this. That's how I learned to get distance when I started 13 years ago... but at the time the "ultra distance driver" that I was flexing for distance was a Gazelle. ;)

I had to...

I'll go Whippet, though both are great discs. The only Viper I've still got in the house is a 2003 CFR Champion Viper. And that thing is one of the most overstable pieces of plastic I've ever thrown....

You can always just contact the Gateway folks. They make some incredibly light Wizards. A friend of mine has them down as light as 105g, if I recall. Has several below 120g. They putt surprisingly...

Sharks were my favorite disc starting out. I think they are one of the best beginner discs made -- much better for a new player than a Roc, IMHO. Most people graduate up to a Roc or a Buzz once they...

standard for dg courses

I totally agree on this. On most courses I am itching for the par 4s and par 5s... for me, the fun thing about some of these holes is that they play differently every time you approach them.

With...

My experience with the Evo is that they don't always come out of my hand well. And the HPP Evo is too overstable to fly like a Wizard.

My advice is the medium/hard regular Wizards. The harder...
