10 years in the life of a tree is meaningless.. but there is no doubt disc damage will shorten the life of it. I cut down thousands of trees a year, but the ones I keep I like to protect.

All side hill greens should at least have a small 5-10' ring of flat area around the basket. 1 it stops erosion, 1 gives you somewhere to land if you have a spit or chain out.
