JL plastic is hard as crap in MY experience. It takes lots and lots of throws in the field to break them in naturally. I suspect that they won't lose a sweet spot for a long time.

Find the pearly champ ones or a MF one. They are way more predictable and are built from concrete it seems. Regular champ plastic seems to be all over the place as you've noticed.

Orange is horrible for any course that has leaf litter on it.

Blue and pink are the easiest to see as those colors dont appear in nature in large amounts.
