I don't think there is a need for change to smaller baskets, but if it happened...outter chains could possibly be removed or zip tied out of the way to meet the new standards without replacing all...

I wanted these shoes to be the one, but as someone prone to ankle sprains I find that these shoes have a steep edge that encourages the roll on dry/hard surfaces. I wear 'em, but I'm still looking.
