I would go with idye poly as the easiest to use and find. Although you may need to order it online depending on where you live.

I've used some pretty old rit. I wouldn't worry too much. Probably wouldn't pay that but I'm pretty sure that the dye is still good. There are only a couple of those colors that are worth having....

I am still using the same rit dyes that I started with 3+ years ago. Except for the black which I have replaced a few times because of contamination.

By the way I don't do many spin dyes. But I do use this same basic technique for painting on dye to do multi color work.

Worm dye has acetone in it. I would never recommend leaving a disc in acetone for any extended period of time. One of the advantages to using the acetone based dye is how quickly the dye is absorbed...

Navy blue is really dark. To actually get blue with it you need to do fairly short dips. Typically 5 min or less.
