It exists, and a lot of people like it. Personally, I throw champ because I use my Firebird as a utility disc... forehands, forehand rollers, skips, etc. so I prefer the durability.

A few grams on a Firebird shouldn't make any difference. My champ FBs are all around 170 and still significantly more overstable than my PDs. Even the lightweight FBs in the 150s are overstable.
