I think you'll like working with vinyl better than contact (although i've never used contact paper) paper! Just be sure to get any big bubbles out before dyeing! BTW, how big were the rolls?

^^^Exactly! A Leopard is a great disc & beginner friendly. And Champion plastic will last a long time! IMO i think they should start with 2 discs, a Leopard & putter & learn how to throw them first....

Why not just get a Star Sidewinder? The two are very similar except the sidewinder is a little more under-stable. Both can also be found in weights down to 150gms.
