Mids like Rocs are typically wide diameter discs so by using them to putt with you are making the target slightly smaller, kind of like how girls' basketballs are smaller than guys'.

Since you throw Eagles I'd just get a DX Eagle X and throw it out there on a spike hyzer. I've had a lot of good luck with DX Firebirds for water discs too.

I like rugged, natural courses more but they need to have great tees. I just personally can't play well on rugged, mountainous courses if I'm worried about tripping and falling off the tee.
