I also sometimes have trouble keeping my balance using the straddle putt (as in having to step forward). Overall I like how it helps me get into more of a rhythm by swinging my arm

I agree with most of the replies so far. Get a Teebird, TL, etc...nice stable fairway driver and learn how to throw it well. Don't try to throw too many different discs too soon. The problem here is...
