And I do run up... I'll try simplifying as well!
Go to a field and start with short hyzers, only 100' or so. You should pretty easily be able to make them go that far without flattening out at all. Slowly push that distance out, it's possible to throw them a long way without that hyzer flipping up at all, and learning to control that will serve you well.
