I preach often to our club president to be the tyrant and set rules, run events a particular way and stop asking how everyone wants things done. No one ever seems satisfied. Unfortunately when someone is faced with having to buy the merch, organize the event, pursue sponsorships and then have to pull off a successful event they typically decide it's better to let someone else do it and then complain. I guess that's what makes it feel so good when it is all over. It's pretty rare now to have to take someone out to the parking lot and smack them around.
