Regardless, how about we not get too sensitive on a web page where you can discuss different topics with typed out words and sarcastic and sometimes heart warming smiley face gifs?
Fair enough...I'm just so used to people on this forum tearing people new one's or getting argumentative...I guess I came into it expecting somebody to make some kind of snide comment. My bad and no hard feelings.

....as far as the the PD goes, what weight would you get in the C and the S to get your most desirable flights (i.e. straight, hyzer, roller, etc)?

I would get the weight you are already comfortable throwing. no reason to change that. other than maybe you take a max weight for the C-PD as it will probably fade a little faster for you and handle the wind slightly better(PDs already do a great job of handling the wind).

I love the surge and the ss both FLX, and the Avenger SS FLX. I throw both RF(Surges) and RB(Avengers). The Surge SS I use when I want to finish on a slide up or skip taking a pretty straight run at it, the surge when I want a little more bite or need to take a turn, also nice lond s turns. The Avenger is my bread and butter when I want a straight run on a back hand or a small hyzer flip. As for all your other discs, I'd say just keep what feels good in the bag. I tend to throw 2 different drivers for fore and back and the rest of my bag I use for whatevers clever for the time. All of my mid and down are Vibram.

Just a suggestion, don't discount innova completely, I know the ungodly amount of molds are just stupid, but if you find some of the classics like the Valkyrie in a Star plastic, they can turn out to be pretty good discs.

Yeah, I know...I actually love dx teebird, but I love stalkers even more and to have both would be redundant. I know they have great discs, like I said, they're just not for me. When I compare Champion to Z plastic or Opto...I just don't care for it as much. Same thing with Star plastic...ESP and Goldline are a little more firm and a little more grippy.

Part of the reason I'm interested in Discmania stuff though is that from what I read on here and DGR.com is that their plastics are a bit different. Someone said their C plastic is like Champion and Star mixed...now that interests me.

What discraft discs would you guys compare the TD and the CD to?

If the original poster hadn't said "No Innova," I would have recommended a Star Valkyrie as an understable driver. But I can relate to not wanting to have to become familiar with yet another brand's line of discs. That's why I don't bother with anything that isn't Innova, Discraft, Vibram, or maybe Gateway. I might be missing out on some great discs from other brands, but I've come to the point where it's not worth the $ to experiment with much more than I'm already familiar with.

I'm glad you understand!

...but now you guys have me curious...what's the break-in period for a star valk before it starts turning and holding it?

You already have this. Two Avenger SS in Z plastic, one new for hyzer flips, and one worn a little that will stay on an anny line and go farther than your stalkers. They also make great rollers in that worn stage. Throw this disc more before you look for something else. It will fit your needs I imagine. Oh and they're consisent and easy to replace.

Overstable Distance- You already had the idea of getting another predator. I like the opaque yellow elite z ones. They are domey. I like to have one heavy 174ish and one around 169.

Those are my suggestions. Also keep the river. They only get better the more you throw them. The glide is unmatched. Good luck.

if you are truly concerned with overlap and want to minimize molds...

going with what you currently have: surge or avenger, river, predator. those 3 should cover anything you want.

trying different molds: vision is an awesome turnover driver but a lighter goldline river will do the job. to me though, i can carry 2 or 3 different rivers that will cover any shot a valk/vision/avenger ss/leopard/stalker can do. im new to PD's but they seem like they can be very versitile, you may be able to carry just a few of those that will cover all those shots as well but im not sure. drivers like the flow or havoc might be worth a try if you want to replace your surge or avenger. i wouldnt change the predator though if you dont like innova. its one of the best overstable dirvers out there. a lot of my opinion though is based on my current power level so maybe it doesnt translate. i know there was a time when i couldnt get rivers to turn all the way over. the vision was easier for me to turn at the time.

right now i carry just 3 driver molds. 4-5 destroyers can cover any distance line i need. 2 rivers(one stable opto and one flippy goldline) cover a very wide range of shots. 3 firebirds take care of every other slot. im messing around with PDs and they might fit in between my beat firebirds and stable rivers but i really dont need em.

that all being said, i really dont see any issue with carrying how ever many molds you want, especially if you consider disc golf just throwing plastic at metal baskets.

Keep the Surge for your distance driver and just go PD for straight/slightly overstable and River for straight/understable. And if your Pred is beefy you can throw that in for overstable/wind shots. That should cover just about every shot you'll need
