Nope, can't go over. If you throw too much of a turnover you'll land in an open area. If you miss the gap to the left a little you can still get thru the trees.

I'm going to try to throw my beat to death P&A on a lazer beam and watch it just take the nice little bend in the gap and finish off somewhere by the mound.
