Is this the same course that was being advertised a month or two ago..... taking the place of a ball golf course?

No that was Dunham Golf Course in Price Hill. Goshen is a new Disc Golf course in a new park.

The Park Board now says they want to put in a temporary course. Doesn't look like it will happen at all.

Must be rough having that many choices in Cincy.

Really rough.
We are blessed to have the courses we have and the people who make it happen here. Last edited by Old Bassman; 05-28-2012 at 10:27 PM. |

Goshen is really getting into this course. The same reason Lincoln Ridge, Idlewild and Mt Airy are so good. The cities and park boards sees the advantage of a good course.

Ideas for rewarding/encouraging volunteerism?
Hi all,
I live about 15 miles from this new course going in, and agree: it will be a good one as it seasons. Those folks who've already put in over a year of 'spare time' on it deserve commendations. There's a little bit of a time crunch happening, as the local group (gcfda) plans to include it this August in our Course Challenge Series. There's been a little bit of frustration expressed lately, which I do NOT want to get in the middle of, but I had just posted a 'cleanup challenge' (http://www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com/De...g=posts&t=2309), hoping to encourage even a few more folks to come out, explore the course in a fun way, and contribute some time to getting it ready. What POSITIVE, zero pressure, encouraging, and fun ways have others used to get out the masses to help with new courses? |

Honestly, I don't think there's much you can do. Time, desire, and ability. Remove any one of those things and you won't/can't be able to get out there and help.
For me, the course is just under an hour away. Add up the drive to and from and I'm looking at 2 hours of wheel time to go work for free. (Gas for my pickup isn't cheap either.) Add the fact that the weekends are really the only time my wife and I are able to spend time together and it's a double whammy. I rarely even play disc golf on weekends, let alone getting out and building a course. I can only imagine how little time someone with kids would have. Some people honestly just don't have the ability to do that kind of manual labor, especially in the heat of the summer. My brother in law and I, along with two other friends did go up there about a month ago and completely cleared hole one of all the debris, and put a pretty good hurting on all the debris on hole 11. I love helping, and I hope to get up there at least one more time, maybe two, but I can't make any promises. I assume most people are in similar situations. |

Thanks (Tim), I really appreciate all you said. And I agree: it is a tough 'sell'. I know everyone involved values any help they can get (so really, Thank You!).
Just wondering if this wealth of experience on DGCR had any great success stories. |
