Thanks. I have very high hopes for this course, and after two days it's looking like we'll be able to create a layout that will really complement the existing courses in the area. Different enough to stand out... but of course it will have that Carolina woods feel. Raleigh players in particular should appreciate the chance to enjoy longer holes.

I also saw that Dee posted some pics from your project in Live Oak.....any general expectations as to the layout?

Thanks, Mike. Had a great day out there today. The front nine is coming together in record time.

Matt, I think you're going to love the new Live Oak. I'm very pleased with how the layout is coming, and you can see from the pictures that the city is committed to doing the construction right. When it's all done, I expect Live Oak to be in the top tier of municipal courses anywhere.

John, Not to long ago we had a lengthy discussion on the forum about vertical gaps in fairways, or gaps that forced you go through it a particular height. I've seen a lot of holes that forced you to stay low but I'm more interested in your thoughts on vertical gaps that are off the ground. Perhaps one that is defined by a mound stuck in the fairway and bushy branches going over top it so you have a 15' tall gap that is 5-10' off the ground. Or possibly even vertical gaps that are higher off the ground where an overhand is a far better option than BH or FH.

Any thoughts, input on the idea and how it could/should be implemented is welcomed.

John,

DO you have a very "rough" outline of what stages will complete when. I go to San Antonio once a month so I can go see for myself. Is one of the three courses finished or will this be a hole by hole remodel not all done at once done by the city as they can fit it into there schedule? Can you design some more stuff for us in DFW in Arlington Area something to complement the DEATH STAR (Cowboys Stadium)

John,
I am in the process of rerouting a fairway on the Trophy Lakes course in Charleston (SC) and have a question about ob lines. The new fairway, a par four, is located in the general vacinity of areas occupied by non disc golf itmes (my tent {home}, etc). I will be installing ob lines on both sides of the fairway to define it's limitations. There are mature pine trees that can be used for 'guideposts'. I'd like your thoughts on placing the: a) ob lines in a direct line with the trees, b) on the outside or c)the inside (in relation to the fairway). Thanks in advance...Shade Hogg, PDGA # 4030

I hope the move is going well for you John. The ranch will be missed, but great memories there will last. Any plans for those 36 baskets or did you leave them?
