removing a stamp after dying?

I am dying a disc that has a custom stamp on it. After the disc is dyed, I only want half of the stamp left. But I want the remaining stamp to line up perfectly with the design. Will I be able to remove a portion of the stamp after the disc has already been dyed, or do I need to do it before? The portion to remove will be partially covered by black and light blue dye.

if you dye the disc then remove the stamp the original disc color will show where the stamp was.

not sure if this would work - but couldn't he mask the disc w/out removing the stamp - dye it, then remove the portion of the stamp he wants to take off, then re-dip? Then after the 2nd dip, remove the remaining masking?

use a laser pen to line up your image. Remove the portions of the stamp you dont want prior to laying your vinyl ontop. Mark the middle of the image on your vinyl with a small dot. when placing the vinyl onto the disc first line up the laser with the dot on the center of the vinyl. next as you slowly lower the disc onto the vinyl make sure to line up the center of the disc with the laser and lower in down. Centered everytime

I forget who first introduced this method, but it's genius. So much better than the push pin method I used before.

TallPat's genius idea! I'm working on 5 intricate trophy discs and they are all on star plastic with lettering that's circular and close to the outside so being off center is really gonna show. I decided to give this technique a try and was very impressed with the ease and accuracy! I'll try to post my set-up tonight.
