The thing with a headwind is that you can throw a disc that would normally be too fast for you. The speed of the disc is relative to the speed of the wind. For every mph the headwind is blowing, the disc reacts as if you are throwing it that many mph faster. I've had some pretty crazy distance with a Destroyer (which admittedly may be a bit too fast for me) into a stiff headwind. I release flat and the headwind actually keeps it in the air longer by slightly turning it over, but the disc is still stable enough to fight back at the end for a small fade.

the firebird and starfire are two of the best wind discs as they dont hold alot of air volume and are very aerodynamic , basically like really aero bricks.

I thought you threw Gazelles? Wasn't there some Gazelle shrine or something I remember?
From Innova's website: Classification: Fairway Driver Diameter: 21.2cm Weight Range: 150 class to 175 grams Brief Description: Versatility and control for fairway shots. A long, straight flight with predictable fade at the end. Handles windy conditions well. Available Plastics: DX Best Choice for: Breezy days,, tight fairway shots, Flex shots, hyzer shots, sidearm shots. About the Gazelle The Gazelle is great overall disc for players of all skill levels because of its versatility and control. It is a dependable driver that has long straight flight with a predictable fade at the end. The Gazelle works well in headwind conditions for both long and medium range shots. It has a narrow rim that is easy for smaller hands to grip. |
